A Glimpse into Printing History This video of the Linotype located here at The Republican was taken back in February 2020. Jack Eads, a former linotype machinist from Florida, was checking out the machine that hadn't been used for 40 years. Phil Brickler, who was a Linotype operator for The Gazette, is helping. The Linotype is a typesetting machine where characters were cast in type metal as a complete line rather than as individual characters as on the Monotype typesetting machine. It was patented in the United States in 1884 by Ottmar Mergenthaler.

The Republican was represented last night at the Trees of Plainfield by Adele and Lance Simon of Danville, our new sponsor spokesmodel team. 😄 There's still time to come out and enjoy this holiday event tonight from 6-9 pm at Hummel Park.

Congratulations to Betty Bartley for receiving the 2021 4-H Fair Recognition Award from the Hendricks County Fair Board for her many contributions to 4-H and her dedication to the youth of the county. We are so proud of you!!!!
