Jodie Foster has never shied away from roles that explore painful subjects. From her unforgettable performance in “The Silence of the Lambs” to her latest film, “A Private Life (Vie privée),” she is drawn to characters that examine interior worlds.

“Lilian thinks she’s solving a mystery,” Foster says about her new character, “but the truth is, the entire path she takes is about her turning around in a circle so that she can see sides of herself she was unwilling to see.”

Even with her self-awareness and success, the star shares that it’s only now, in her 60s, that she feels a new clarity — hard won after a turbulent decade.

“My 50s were hard,” she admits. “I felt like a failure. I kept thinking I was supposed to do something meaningful and hadn’t done it."

I restocked the free libraries today. Thank you to every person who has visited and shared over the past two years.

Going forward let me share:

1. Please do not flood the libraries with tracts. When I open the boxes and a hundred leaflets fall to the ground, it’s too much. I am a 60 yr old-dealing with arthritis. Be kind and considerate.

2. Please do not leave out-of-date magazines, Farmers Almanacs, Readers Digest, and Education Books. No-one wants to know how to repair a VCR or check the weather for 1928. I promise.

3. Please do not share books with missing pages or water stains.

4. If the box is full, message me and I will arrange pickup.

5. If you remove the display book please replace with another.

We want visiting the libraries to be a fun experience. If the box is overrun, or disorganized it stops people from looking.

I try to visit each library every two weeks and post pics.
