Dalton Living recently caught up with bluegrass/Gospel artist Randall Franks. Franks is a former NBC and CBS actor who appeared as “Officer Randy Goode” on “In The Heat of the Night.” He has also starred or co-starred in multiple series and films for Hallmark and UpTV. He is an award-winning author of 10 books, a syndicated columnist, International Bluegrass Hall of Fame legend and long-time Grand Ole Opry guest star. Through his Share America Foundation, he inspires youth to learn and share the music of Appalachia. Currently a Ringgold resident, Franks grew up spending time at his family’s farm in Westside. He previously lived in Varnell.

As we em-BARK towards our July/August issue of Dalton Living magazine, we'd love to spotlight local pets (and their owners) through photos. Whether furry, feathery, scaly, big or small, any photo submission of your animal companion(s) is welcome!

When submitting, please send one photo of each individual pet along with their name, your first and last name, and a short description of why your pet is special to you.

Also, if you have a special story to share about your animal, we'd love to hear about it!

To be in consideration for our next issue, all submissions must be sent to [email protected] by June 10. Please attach only one photo per email.

The Downtown Dalton Development Authority and The Anderson Foundation are sponsoring the town tree lighting THIS EVENING with an invitation for everyone to come for free cookies, cocoa, music and, of course, the official lighting of the tree. The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with crafts for kids, and the tree lighting starts at 6 p.m. A big thanks to everyone who makes this evening possible!
