An inmate killed a detention officer at the Ellis acounty Jail on Monday afternoon. 45-year-old Arron Thompson from Ennis assaulted 28-year-old Isaiah Bias. Thompson was charged with Capital Murder and issued a bond of $2 million. The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference on Tuesday morning to provide updates about the officer’s death. Meet "Glicked" this year's "Barbenheimer."
"Wicked," the movie adaptation of the musical play, and "Gladiator II," came out on Friday, November 22nd. Over the weekend, both films made a total of $270 million in ticket sales worldwide. While both fandoms coined "Glicked" for both films of opposite vibes, it didn't quite catch much attention.
Studios estimated that "Wicked," featuring Arianna Grande and Cynthia Ervio, had received $164.2 million globally and $114 million domestically. This puts it behind "Deadpool & Wolverine" and "Inside Out 2" in the biggest opening weekend.
The sequel to Gladiator, took $250 million to produce it and earned $55.5 million on its opening weekend so far. Internationally, the film made an additional $50.5 million in ticket sales.

SpaceX celebrated a massive win on Sunday as its new attempt at catching and reusing rocket boosters was successful, potentially marking a major step forward in space travel and the cost of leaving Earth.
The space company utilized its Mechazilla, a tower that uses chopstick-like arms, to catch a descending 232-foot booster after a seven-minute flight.

An accident involving an officer on horseback occurred at the State Fair of Texas this afternoon.
The Dallas Police Department said in a statement that a Dallas officer was riding a horse patrolling the State Fair. He was at the Big Tex Circle when his horse was startled. The officer was injured trying to calm the horse and then he was bucked off the horse.
Dallas Fire Rescue transported the officer to the nearest hospital to treat their injuries, while the horse was returned to its barn.
No other injuries were reported.

Today, an annular solar eclipse will occur, causing a 'ring of fire' for 6 minutes. It will be visible in parts of South America. Experts say the best place to see it is on Easter Island and parts of Chile and Argentina.

Hurricane Helene left major damage to those in the Southeast. Officials in Asheville, North Carolina, for example, promised to get more food, water, and other supplies to flood-stricken areas on Monday. While the tropical storm caused a death toll of over 100, Asheville alone reported 30 deaths.
