Mom guilt never fully registered for me…
Until this experience.

Her relief in having free time,

“I love my kids but…”
That’s the guilt.
So without qualification
I’d like to admit
I LOVE MY FREE TIME.
Mom, enjoying your time without your children,
Whether you’re a single parent some of the time
Or not,
Is not only beneficial
It’s mandatory.
You aren’t only a mother.
You’re a woman with so many needs
That need to be energized
For you to function optimally.
Give yourself permission to feel joyful ALL the time.

Lissen, I’m not passing any blame on ANYONE, but generally we don’t look at the role we play in our own unhappiness.
When my marriage ended passing blame wasn’t gonna do me any good. Understanding what I could do differently would.
In that search I uncovered a few things. This concept of masculinity was an important one. What it meant to me 20 years ago, and what it means to me today.
The takeaway?
Allow your sons their right to express their emotions, don’t ask them to toughen up, don’t stop their tears.
And teach your daughters to appreciate that expression as a healthy part of masculinity🙏🏽💛
They’ll both thank you for it later on. ✨
