Ad agencies only talk about the businesses and awards they win. Always bragging about their success. We are not like that. We tell stories. And here’s one. We just lost a significant pitch in which we participated in. It was to handle the tourism account for a particular city. Eight agencies presented credentials. We made it to the final round and had to present in person to the city council. We were the first ones asked to present, and the other two agencies were there watching us pitch. Then came the time for the city council members to vote. Three out of seven voted for Co.Jones. Another three voted for a local agency. That’s six… and the seventh one voted for the third agency. We were tied to win it! An incredible achievement. A tiebreaker round of votes was called. We remained with three votes, but the seventh council member switched and gave his vote to the local agency, making that agency the winner. The gavel sounded louder than ever. Co.Jones was the runner-up.
Silver medal in a race in which we were the only agency not from there. We got up and congratulated the winners and wished them good luck. We got in our car and drove three hours back at night. Not one mile of the long drive made us feel like losers but instead proud of getting that far, almost close to winning it. So, today, we are back home with the humbleness of having attempted! Ultimately, that’s life… taking opportunities given and aiming at them. Some you win, and some you lose. But not trying is the actual losing. So, cheers to the winner and our new upcoming opportunities.
Happy Cinco de Irish! #cojonescreative
Just imagine! 1958 in the USA, segregation still rampant, Hispanic kids in public schools were punished for speaking Spanish. And then, there comes Richie Valens to cross all boundaries and become a cultural anthem. You could create a perfect parallel between the lyrics of La Bamba and the struggles that Hispanics face in the USA. To dance, just like to live, you need a bit of grace and… from there, arriba y arriba! #hispanicmarketing #culturallyrelevant #lostintranslation #latinosinusa
Cojones and fun! Two things you either have or don’t! Have fun this weekend. Drink vino responsibly!
