"Leave it to the teams!" In a recent PBS News interview, Barnes & Noble CEO James Daunt gives an informative account of B&N's key to success—expanding to open an additional 60 bookstores in 2025: "It's about the bookselling team and it's about how you take all these huge number of books, arrange them, and display them in a manner which really engages with your local community. The insight that gives me in terms of running lots of bookstores is, leave it to the teams in each store. Yesterday, Brown Books Publishing Group hit the pavement at the Dallas BMW Marathon! Splitting into two relay teams—the Run-Ons and the Em Dashers—we turned up the friendly competition and team spirit.

Big thanks to our author Mike Cosentino of Big Peach Running Co. for stepping in as our shoe consultant! With his expertise, our teams were laced up for success, and everyone crushed their segments even faster than anticipated!

Despite the foggy weather, the energy was high, the laughs were plenty, and we crossed the finish line stronger as a team. Running alongside so many inspiring participants was truly unforgettable.

Here’s to combining endurance, camaraderie, and a love for storytelling—whether on the page or the racecourse.

Barnes and Noble is in full swing this upcoming year!

Following the announcement of B&N’s opening of 60 new stores, America’s largest retail bookseller continues to grow and thrive.

The popular bookstore has adapted a new way of doing business, leaving the old “one size fits all” plan in the dust and adopting a new way of trying things by leaving the stock and display up to the individual stores.

New CEO James Daunt goes on to credit the sudden rise of “BookTok” to both the robust growth of the book industry and the newer structure of B&N’s.

BBPG staff came to boo-gie this morning with our annual Halloween party!

Every year at Brown Books, our staff members like to have a fun (and often competitive) tradition of dressing up in costumes relating to the books we’ve published over the years.

From hockey players and bears, to bees and butterflies, everyone had a blast getting spooky this season.

First place went to Mary Winzer this year, dressed as Arturo Toscanini, from “This Was Toscanini: The Maestro, My Father and Me!”

With the rise of digital book buying, it can be easy to fall into the narrative that physical bookstores are a dying bred. Although, this is far from the truth.

For anyone inquiring about the health of the book business, we're happy to pass along some optimistic news. Barnes & Noble is opening 58 stores this year alone. The book business is still in full swing!
