Have you ever made a dinner choice based on proximity?

I was grabbing my weekly tea at HTeaO when I saw Anaya’s Seafood Scratch Kitchen-Plano across the parking lot.

Not knowing what to select, I ordered their fish and chips ($17), and it was okay. I would have liked the batter to have more flavoring, but the fries were great!

Ultimately, fried fish doesn't allow a chef a lot of creativity in the kitchen, so next time I'll try their herb-crusted cod or the seafood enchiladas.

Do you know what I love about Mediterranean food, more specifically Turkish food? It's simple and tasty!

Just look at this "Adana Kebab (grilled minced beef - $16)" dish from Lezzet Cafe Dallas. It's not much to look at, but the meal is unforgettable because it's the perfect blend of seasonings and spices on a savory bed of rice.

If you like Turkish Food, I would definitely recommend Lezzett Cafe in North Dallas.

Just curious ... why do you only get a little bit of food at upscale restaurants? 🫣 Is that my greediness talking?

For this adventure, I met a friend in Irving, Texas, to try Hugo's Invitados for a modern Mexican-influenced meal.

Verdict? Beyond delicious! I savored each bite and wanted more.

If you're interested in trying this dish, it's the "44 Farms Filet Mignon" ($41).

Pan-seared, all-natural filet mignon, poblano mashed potatoes, sweet roma sauce, arugula, & serrano garlic-lime compound butter.

Next on my list of restaurants in Historic Downtown Grapevine ... Tolbert's Restaurant & Chili Parlor.

First, this restaurant screams Texas! It has an old saloon-style feel to it, which is the perfect atmosphere for live shows.

Second, Tolbert's is known for their Texas chili so we ordered "Frank's Frito Pie" ($8), and the dish was better than we expected.

✨ Pro Tip: order an extra cup of Fritos to increase the Frito-to-chili ratio.

In the end, I would have preferred chunkier chili than the sauce-style texture we received, but the flavor was still good.

Give them a shot if you're craving a cup of chili.

As a South Texan, I thought I had tried every kind of Mexican food. Then I was introduced to upscale Mexican food at Maria’s Mexican Kitchen in Fort Worth.

We started with Braised Beef Sopes ($14). I’m not a fan of refried beans, so this was a pass for me.

Then the entree arrived 🥰...

I got their special of the day, but it’s similar to the Mar y Tierra on the current menu.

My dish came with steak, mushrooms, shrimp, scallops in an almond sauce for about $55. 😮

The prices are definitely upscale, but the food was really good so it was worth it.

Do you remember when regular chicken was our only option?

Now, if it’s not hot, we don’t want it.

The 2 tender and fries meal (mild flavor) at Daveshotchicken in North Dallas is my go-to for chicken cravings.

Oh, and the crinkle 🍟 are my favorite part. I can never make it home without eating a few.

This Mom’s Meatball Sandwich ($14) from The Community Grill in Frisco, may not look like much, but these meatballs reminded me of Nana's cooking.

While the sandwich was good, the brussel sprouts topped with cheese and bacon were even better… 😍😍😍.

You can clearly see we didn’t leave any of them behind.

Note: I don’t see the brussel sprouts on the menu anymore, so you may have to ask for them.

Two reasons why I love D.L. Mack's ...

(1) Bread lovers, did you see the rolls? They taste as good as they look.

(2) Have you ever had a meatball pizza? This is the Return of the Mack with Italian sausage, giardiniera, caramelized onions and it’s 🔥.

I had to force myself to stop eating. If you love pizza, head over to Highland Park for this gem.

This hidden gem tucked away in a shopping center near Prestonwood Church, offers the best Paella I’ve ever tasted.

This is the Paella Valenciana ($20)…

It’s yellow rice cooked in a cast iron skillet with calamari, shrimp, baked chicken, chorizo sausage, green peppers, onions, pimentos, garlic, and claim juice. 😍

Oh, and their sweet tea is love in a cup!

Cris and John is the Vietnamese-Mexican Fusion restaurant you never knew you needed until you tried it.

The main attraction is the Phorrito.

It’s your choice of protein with rice noodles, basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos, onion, hoisin and sriracha sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla and pan fried. 🤤

Did you know Harvest Hall in Grapevine, Texas, has an observation deck overlooking the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex?

For $3 (per person), you can travel up to the 12th floor (150 feet) to see an expansive view of Grapevine and Dallas.

The hours are 10am-6pm, and tickets can be purchased at the Visitors Information Center in Harvest Hall.

I don’t remember what we were celebrating, but the group agreed Bangkok Dee Thai Cuisine was the place to do it.

As much as I love Asian cuisine, I always avoided Thai food because of the peanut flavor. However, Bangkok Deep made me a fan.

I ordered the Pad Glass Noodles ($14) with onions, carrots, and snow peas (cut the tomatoes and eggs) and it was delicious!

I've had glass noodles before, but the way these noodles soaked up all of the flavors in this dish was 😍.

Bonus: The dish even better the next day for lunch.

I made my dream salad at CRISP & GREEN in Northeast Dallas.

Technically, you can’t have a bad salad here because you’re the chef.

However, if too many options gives you anxiety, you can try one of their signature salads, grain bowls, or wraps.

The build-your-own salad will cost you about $9. The signature salads range from $12-$15.

One of my goals is to try every restaurant on Main Street in Grapevine, Texas.

Next on the list — chezfabienbistro.

I splurged a bit for the Steak Frites au Poivre at $42, but it was worth it.

You can’t go wrong with a 14 oz grilled Ribeye Steak, Au Poivre Sauce, and French Fries. Especially when the steak is tender and juicy, and the skinny fries hit just right.

Definitely will be going back soon!

When I think of simple yet tasty food, Luna Grill always comes to mind.

This is the Koobideh Kabob Plate with a chicken kabob add-on.

It's a high protein meal, with seasoned minced beef kabob, rice, salad, and warm pita bread.

BTW, this is lunch and dinner for me at $25. Enjoy!

If you ever walk into a restaurant and...

(1) the menu is in a different language, and
(2) all of the customers are from the same culture as the food being served

You know the food is going to be 🔥.

I ordered the Beef Noodles for $25 and it was amazing! I don’t think I left anything behind and you see how big this bowl is.

I scarfed down these Pork with Napa Cabbage Dumplings from Hello Dumpling on Walnut Hill in Northeast Dallas.

I would have like for them to have a bit more kick, but they were good for a $10 quick bite.

As for the rice dumplings…not a fan. This was my first rice dumpling, and the consistency threw me off. But that’s just me. Try them for yourself.

When I first saw @tricky_fish_ , I immediately asked, “what makes it tricky?” I’m still not entirely sure but it may have something to do with étouffée? 🤷🏾‍♀️ First, let me say the service at the Walnut Hill location is ✨amazing✨. If you visit around 4pm on a weekday, you’ll pretty much have the entire restaurant to yourself. Now let’s talk about the food: ⭐️ Blackened Redfish: I loved the meatiness of the redfish, but I expected more of a kick from the blackening seasoning. ⭐️ Loaded Mash Potatoes: I don’t love mashed potatoes, but I ate every bite of these. Very creamy and flavorful. ⭐️ Flash-Fried Okra: The seasoning was good but I was a little disappointed with the choice to slice the okra. I didn’t have any okra guts, which to me is the best part. It was basically a plate of okra skin. After looking through other people’s food pics, I want to visit again and try the seafood pasta or burgers.
