My wife and I had been in love with each other since childhood, and our story was like something out of a book. We grew up, got married, and became parents.

But real life is not a fairy tale, unfortunately. At first, we couldn't have children, but we were lucky enough to adopt beautiful triplets. However, things went downhill after that. I hurt my leg on a building site, and due to complications, it had to be amputated. While I was recovering, my wife worked hard, which eventually took a toll on her health. She passed away from a heart attack at a young age.

I found the strength to take care of our children, but money was devastatingly scarce. Then, one Christmas morning, a man in a Santa Claus suit knocked on my door and handed me an envelope, saying it was a gift. Frankly, I was shocked, as I hadn't believed in miracles for a long time. Inside the envelope was a check for $100,000. I couldn't imagine who it was from, since I had no family or close friends. I immediately asked, "Please, can you tell me who sent the letter to me?"

After my wife's funeral, I returned home. I was so empty. I didn't even take my coat off. I just walked into our bedroom and collapsed onto her side of the bed, still wearing my shoes. Her scent lingered on the sheets.

The room was dim, lit only by the small nightlight by the bed. I reached for our framed photo on the nightstand โ€” our favorite from our engagement day โ€” and stared at it like I'd done so many times before.

But then, something strange happened. As I held the photo, I felt a bump behind the frame. At first, I thought nothing of it, but my fingers kept tracing it, and without thinking, I removed the glass and pulled the frame apart.

The next second I just froze because a photo of my wife sitting in a hospital bed with a NEWBORN fell out of it. But we NEVER had kids. I turned the photo over and read, "Mama will always love you" in my wife's handwriting and a phone number.

My hands trembling, I dialed the number.

So, I was exhausted from a long trip back from my hometown. I'd been staying with my parents for about three weeks with my kids while my husband was home alone. We decided to come back two weeks early because the kids missed their dad and friends so much. We thought it would be a fun surprise for my husband, so we didn't tell him we were coming back early.

So, today was wild, and I have to vent. We have a one-year-old daughter. This morning was like every other: me brushing my teeth and trying to get us all ready for the day, while our daughter was seated in her high chair, watching her favorite show. But my husband? Just sitting there, scrolling through videos on his phone like nothing needs to be done. Breakfast? Nope, not even scrambled eggs. I asked why, and he said, "I was waiting to ask you what to make."
