My husband, Clark, pulled the ultimate selfish move. We were flying to visit his family, and he was in charge of booking the flights. My marriage with Mike was done way before we signed any papers. He’d been more into his flashy image than into us for ages. Big cars, big house—if it screamed “Look at me,” he wanted it. This house held so many memories. After my parents died in a car accident when I was just four, Grandpa became my everything — my father, mother, and best friend. He understood me like no one else, and I loved every moment we spent together.

As I wandered through the house, lost in childhood memories, something clicked. "Grandpa's mattress!" I had always wondered why he never let anyone touch it. What had he been hiding?
