Dealing with disrespectful or passive communication?

Here’s how to handle it without being ultimately petty.

The ones who talk at you, not with you.

The passive-aggressors who leave things unsaid until it’s an issue.

The ones who avoid direct, respectful communication.

You can’t control how others communicate, but you can control your response.

1️⃣ Stay calm, don’t mirror their tone. Even though every bone in your body is telling you to give it back to them.

Be professional, clear, and direct. You set the tone.

2️⃣ Address it head-on. Ask clarifying questions or calmly call out tension. Try and avoid saying what you’re actually thinking in that tense moment.

3️⃣ Protect your boundaries. Don’t take it personally or let it derail your focus. They have their own perspective of the world, and it’s not yours.

4️⃣ Know when to disengage. If it’s not worth your energy, step away politely without a throat punch.

Why it matters:

➡️Miscommunication leads to mistakes
➡️Disrespect leads to resentment
➡️Neither gets results.

You can’t control how others show up, but you can control how you choose to communicate.

And that? That’s how you rise above the noise.

There are two types of people I come across time and time again.

1️⃣ Those who work hard and refuse to quit, even when they aren’t perfect at something. They push through the inconvenient, uncomfortable, or messy parts because they understand that growth lives in discomfort.

2️⃣ And then there are those who find any reason to stop. Maybe it’s too hard, too time-consuming, or they convince themselves the extra step isn’t worth it. Consistency? Optional. Doing it right? A nice-to-have.

Here’s the hard truth: Success doesn’t care about convenience. It’s earned by those who embrace the process,
who choose to show up, even when it’s uncomfortable, inconvenient, or far from perfect.

I see it in entrepreneurs every day.

The best professionals aren’t necessarily the ones with the most resources or the perfect plan.

They’re the ones who are relentless. They’ll troubleshoot when no one else wants to.

They’ll stay consistent when everyone else has burned out.

They’ll take that extra step to get it right—not because it’s easy, but because they know it matters.

Whether you’re planning events, building a business, or just trying to hit a personal goal, ask yourself:

👉 Am I finding solutions, or excuses?
👉 Am I showing up, even when it’s hard, or stopping when it’s inconvenient?

Because the difference between the people who make it and the people who don’t?

It’s not talent.

It’s the willingness to keep going when every part of you wants to stop.

Success isn’t sexy, polished, or perfect. It’s messy, consistent, and relentless.

So, which one are you?

In 2023-2024, I had one of the busiest years of my life.

New role. Building an event from scratch. Leading a new team. Navigating all the complexities that come with it. It was a year of growth, challenges, and nonstop motion.

However, no amount of decision-making power, title, or salary could override one harsh reality.

If my body wasn’t being cared for, my mind couldn’t keep up. A “spicy” mind isn’t a great co-pilot in the world of events.

By the end of 2024, I hit a wall. Hard. It was the kind of crash that forces you to stop and ask…

“Who do I want to be?“
“How do I want to show up?”
“Why am I doing this?”

For the first time, I made an investment I’d been putting off for years: myself.

I hired a personal trainer who reminds me that my sarcasm can’t get me out of the torture (even if I want to).

I got a shared office space surrounded by creatives who inspire me daily.

And I built a healthy routine—a non-negotiable foundation—that allows me to show up better for the people I have the privilege of working with, the whirlwind travel schedule, and the bandwidth these projects demand.

Here’s what I learned:

Your body and mind are your most critical pieces of event infrastructure. You can plan the most flawless schedule, craft the perfect experience, and troubleshoot like the best of them, but if you burn out, none of it matters.

Take the time to invest in yourself. Whether that’s getting a trainer, finding an inspiring workspace, prioritizing better sleep, or simply saying no when you need to, it’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity.

Because if you’re not at your best, you can’t create your best. And in any industry, where the stakes are high and the pace is relentless, showing up as your full complete and truly ready self is the ultimate power

Do it for you 💪🏻

We all have that one big thing we keep avoiding, waiting for the “right” moment.

The right moment may be when the weather is great, the coffee hits and your best friend called to check in.

Theres rarely a perfect moment to do the thing that has been keeping you up at night.

The right” moment is just an excuse in disguise.

Most people who do great things are just as scared as you are; but something deep inside kept eating at them, and finally, they said enough is enough. And bet on themselves.

So here’s your Monday nudge, make a move, bubble guts and all.

Progress doesn’t wait for confidence to show up.

What are you tackling this week, even if it’s a little terrifying? Drop it below—let’s cheer each other on! 👇

In both personal and professional relationships, it’s natural to want to fix what’s not working.

But sometimes, the strongest move you can make is recognizing when it’s beyond repair and moving on.

Not every connection, friendship, or work relationship is built to last—and that’s okay! Knowing when to say “next” is a skill worth mastering. Make room for people who truly get you and relationships that actually add value. 💯

I

Let me be 100% clear.

There isn’t a career path that comes free of negativity.

For every moment of “I’ve got this!” there’s another where doubt creeps in, whispers of “Am I even good enough?” or the fear of failing in front of others—especially when you’re putting yourself out there to network, connect, and grow.

I see this so often with my students: they’re hungry for success, motivated to build genuine connections, but sometimes that fear of being judged or not fitting the “perfect” mold is paralyzing.

But please take away this incredibly important note. 📝

Every meaningful connection and every career milestone you want is on the other side of JUST showing up.

Showing up will surprise you, it will challenge you, and it will be worth it.

This is the moment when two friends, who crossed paths at just the right time, realized they’d truly made it. ❤️

Cheldin Barlatt Rumer has spent years giving women a platform to show up as their real, raw selves. But what she may not know is that her friendship and platform gave me the confidence to do more than thrive—to survive.

Fast forward to the biggest project of my career, and my first call? Cheldin, no question. She showed up, and suddenly everything felt right. I felt right.

If you’re lucky, you’ll find a Cheldin—a friend who shows up in ways that save you when you least expect it.

These past two days, we celebrated her and her incredible community, and trust me—this is just the beginning.

Wait until you see what she’s got in store next year. 🌟

The right network doesn’t just show up; it stands beside you, lifts you up, and reminds you that you never walk the unknown journey alone.

2 amazing conversations in two days, was a wonderful reminder of that.

So grateful for crossing paths with incredible humans.

Let’s keep showing up for each other. 🫶

“In a world full of roses, be a wildflower.”

I walked into a store the other day, and there it was—a small flag hanging, with these words woven across it. Without hesitation, I grabbed it.

This wasn’t just another quote on a flag for me—it was a reminder of something deeply personal. Growing up, my grandmother gave each of us a flower nickname. My sister was the delicate and graceful tulip, and I… I was the wildflower.

To this day, that identity sticks with me. Wildflowers are a little unexpected, a little free-spirited, and they find beauty in the most surprising places. It’s that balance of resilience and wildness that I’ve always embraced in my personal and professional life.

For anyone out there who’s ever felt a little different, or a little out of place—remember that there’s beauty in growing where others might not expect you to. 💐🌾

I’m still catching my breath from everything that went into PIMCon 2024.

After a year of planning, it all came together—2 incredible celebrities, 16 speakers who poured their hearts out, and over 400 attendees who brought an energy I’ll never forget.

And let’s not forget the 63 sponsors who helped make this happen. It was nothing short of amazing.

I won’t lie, there were highs and lows. The things we got right—we knocked it out of the park. And the things we missed? Well, those will be lessons we take into next year, where we’ll pivot, grow, and come back even better.

I need to give a huge thank you to the Rankings.io team for their dedication and support, and to Dylan Shinholser for keeping us grounded and steering this event from idea to reality. Your work means the world, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

To everyone who came, supported, and shared—thank you. You’re the reason PIMCon was a success, and you’ve all left an imprint on what this event will become in the future.

We’re already thinking ahead to PIMCon 2025, and I’m so excited for what’s next.

But for now, I’m just grateful for the moments we shared, the challenges we overcame, and the community we’ve built.

Just wait until you see what we do next year 👊
