We’ll admit this topic of heating and cooling is dry, but the thing about a chart is that you only need to know two things to figure out all the other metrics on the chart and they are both easy to figure out by anyone. The first is what’s called the dry bulb temperature which is just the on your thermostat or thermometer. Sound easy enough? It’s called dry bulb because the bulb of the thermometer is exposed to ambient air and not covered by a wetted sock. Yep you heard that right. More on wet bulb temperature later. So now you can check your thermostat at home or at your indoor farm and look up the dry bulb temperature on the chart. The second piece of information you need is relative...

Understanding the is the first step so that we can ask the right questions about where our food comes from and how it’s grown. It’s about challenging our food system, government, and corporations by being with knowledge to debate the issues and make our own choices. We the people!

The true leaves of the cilantro in the photo are just beginning to emerge. It’s the point at which begins. The first two leaves are called cotyledons, and are a significant part of the embryo within the seed. Two leaves are called dicotyledons, as shown, while a seed with only one embryonic leaf is called a monocotyledon. You can also call them “dicots” or “monocots” for short.

Elevation! Psychrometric charts are dependent on pressure. If you live close to sea level then choose the chart where pressure equals 1 atm. Pretty simple. A quick google search will get you to the right chart. But careful not to copy your friend’s heating, cooling, and dehumidification system for an indoor farm in Denver or the Swiss Alps. They are located at a higher elevation and lower pressure so you’ll need to make sure you have the right one. Remember just check the pressure on the chart.
