The Unfortunate Backlash Against VDM

I've been dismayed to see the overwhelming criticism directed towards VDM after he openly shared that his account had been hacked, resulting in the loss of N160m. Despite his history of transparency and philanthropy, including helping individuals and businesses recover from exploitation, he's now facing an unprecedented level of negativity on social media.

Sadly, many have quickly forgotten his good deeds and are instead jumping to conclusions, accusing him of deceit and ulterior motives. This reaction serves as a stark reminder that even the most well-intentioned individuals can be swiftly judged and condemned for a single misstep, regardless of their past achievements.

A valuable lesson can be gleaned from this experience: no matter how consistent our good actions may be, we are ultimately judged by our mistakes.

Ikpoba-Okha Legislative Arm Pass Vote of Confidence on the Council Boss, Dr Eric Osayande.

The members of the Ikpoba-Okha Legislative Arm has reaffirmed it's absolute loyalty to the Executive Chairman of the local government council, Dr Eric Osayande.

This was made known today when the Legislative Arm led by the leader, Rt Hon Kingsley Balogban paid a solidarity visit to the council boss as part of the Christmas festivities.

Speaking to the councillors, Dr Osayande appreciated them for their visit and support since his assumption of office and briefed them on issues about the recent Edo State House of Assembly statement on local government councils while applauding President Ahmed Tinubu through the AGF for standing on the Supreme Court judgement on local government autonomy.

He further highlighted his achievements across the wards of the local council.

In his address, the leader of the Ikpoba-Okha Legislative Arm, Rt Hon Kingsley Balogban stated that the chairman, Dr Eric Osayande, the vice chairman, Hon(Mrs) Osamuyimen Omosigho Idehen and themselves, the Councillors were democratically elected to pilot the affairs of the local council for a three year term.

Rt Hon Balogban also enumerated the developmental strides of Dr Osayande which he said are visible across the ten Wards since his assumption of office amidst cheers from the Councillors.

The Ikpoba-Okha Legislative Arm leader further described the Ikpoba-Okha council chairman as a man who believes so much in the wellbeing of the good people of Ikpoba-Okha; hence, his people oriented programs and projects which have greatly impacted the lives of the people of the locality and called for more support from all stakeholders for a continuation of the progress being achieved by the administration of Dr Eric Osayande.

Highpoint of the solidarity visit was a move for a vote of confidence on Dr Eric Osayande which was unanimously adopted by all the Councillors representing the various wards making up the local government.

Dear Governor Monday Okpebholo,

I'm writing to bring to your attention that the High Court in Benin has ruled in favor of restoring the Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the Local Government Councils in Edo State to their positions, effective today, December 20, 2024.

While I understand that you might be tempted to disregard this court decision, citing the unlawful actions of your predecessor, Governor Obaseki, I urge you to reconsider. Two wrongs don't make a right, and it's essential to respect the rule of law.

I was one of the vocal critics of Governor Obaseki and his deputy Philips Shaibu’s actions, and I believe I should be more outraged than you. However, I'm appealing to you to approach this matter in a more civil and legal way. This will not only differentiate you from your predecessor but also demonstrate your commitment to upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

Nigerians are watching, Your Excellency, and it's crucial to handle this situation with care. I implore you to respect the court's decision and work towards finding a resolution that aligns with the law.
