Gigan - Captive State

The planet of Neuro wasn’t always a prison. Once a thriving colony, it became a symbol of the Captive State—a harsh regime that took over after a devastating war. The government, fearing rebellion, turned Neuro into a dumping ground for society’s outcasts: criminals, dissidents, and political prisoners. With its toxic atmosphere and towering walls, Neuro is now a place where survival is a daily struggle, ruled by the ever-watchful drones of the Overseers. The inhabitants endure forced labor, and any disobedience is swiftly crushed. Life on Neuro is bleak, with hope nearly extinct as people are reduced to mere numbers in a system designed to break them.
Yet, amidst this grim reality, a legend persists—of Gigan, a mysterious figure whose music breaks through the prison’s walls, offering fleeting moments of freedom. His tracks are smuggled into the depths of the prison cities, sparking secret, all-night dance parties where the people defy the Overseers’ Control. In these gatherings, Gigan’s music becomes the sound of rebellion, a heartbeat of hope that unites the prisoners. The risks are immense, but the promise of liberation through his music drives them forward, reminding them they are not alone in their fight for freedom.
Now, Gigan returns with a seismic release on Venom Shroud, Boomslang Recordings’ dark sister label. Known for pushing the boundaries of drum and bass, Gigan delivers two powerful tracks. The first, “Captive State,” channels the industrial oppression of Neuro with a crushing bassline and razor-sharp drums, capturing the tension of living under constant surveillance. The second, “Control,” intensifies the energy, blending eerie atmospheres and complex percussion with mind-bending drops that keep listeners on edge. Together, these tracks tell a story of defiance, resilience, and the will to break free. Captive State and Control are poised to leave a lasting mark on the scene.
