My husband's always been kinda rude about my weight. It hurts, but I usually let it slide. I tried to understand him after he lost his job, trying to support him as much as I can. But last night? Oh, God, he just lost it! He said awful things, calling me 'disgusting,' 'fat,' and worse. He even compared me to my best friend Kate, saying how attractive she is compared to me. It was so hurtful... I cried all night.

My Husband Delayed My Dream Vacation for Years – Then Told Me I Was "Too Old" for It

Greece had always been my dream destination. I spent years saving, picturing myself wandering through ancient ruins and watching the sun set over Santorini. I wanted to share it with Dan, my husband. Every year, he promised, "We'll go next year." But next year never came. There was always an excuse—work, house repairs, something else that took priority. Still, I held onto the dream and kept saving, certain we'd eventually make it.

By the time I turned 65, I had saved enough for both of us to go. Excitedly, I planned the trip, even bought a new swimsuit, imagining us celebrating my birthday in Greece. When I told Dan, "I've saved enough—let's finally do it. Let's go to Greece!" I was expecting excitement or at least agreement. Instead, he looked at me like I was being ridiculous.

"At your age? You really think you're going to wear that swimsuit? You're too old for that. Greece is for young people, not... people like you," he said with a sneer, eyeing me with disdain. Then, to make it worse, he added, "Why don't you just give me the money instead? I’ll take it for a fishing trip with the guys. At least that’s not a silly fantasy."

I was stunned. After all those years of waiting, saving, and hoping, my dream was brushed aside like it meant nothing. But in that moment, something changed inside me.

THIS IS ME, HAPPY WITH MY HUSBAND ON OUR WEDDING DAY—UNKNOWING THAT JUST DAYS LATER, MY BLOOD WOULD RUN COLD WHEN I OPENED HIS DRAWER.
I had just tied the knot and moved into my husband’s family home. Everyone was lovely, EXCEPT for the maid, who looked at me like I didn’t belong there.
The next morning, while making breakfast, I realized my phone was missing. I searched the house frantically but had no luck. Then, after a tense search, I spotted it casually left on a seat where the maid had just been.
