Ever wondered how bees develop? Here are some pictures since spring is right around the corner. You can see the eggs in the middle of the cells which after three days will hatch to larvae. Then depending on the bee they will create (Queen, Drone, Worker) they will grow and the cell will be capped. Later, they will hatch out. All of the pictures will be worker bees.

It’s been quiet for the last couple weeks, but this weekend I was able to extract a hive from a cabin that’s been there for several years. After a few hours of work, the queen was caught and the bees were brought back home.

It’s been busy today with all the swarms!

The rain stopped for a bit and the bees decided to swarm. This shows how calm they are when they don’t have a home to protect and are full of resources to start it’s hive. Also on days it’s raining they are always very irritable, but this swarm didn’t mind me!

The “bee march” is alway a good sign you caught the queen from a swarm. The pheromones put off by other bees signals them to come in to the nice new home.

Here’s a clip of a new bee coming out! You can also see the other bees cleaning out the cells getting ready for the queen to lay another egg in it.

The girls are busy today!
