For those who are in various stages of their clean-up and recovery processes, resources are available for where to begin, how to stay safe, and how to receive aid.

The biggest thing is to ask for help. There are so many people in our communities who are ready to volunteer assistance with physical labor, tools, donations, and information that we hope you don't feel like you have to go through this disaster alone.

A Facebook group has been established to help people ask for help and items, as well as for those wanting to give their help and items and coordinate efforts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2449363758592199/

06/25/2024

In addition to information provided yesterday, we've seen several people who are reaching out wanting to volunteer their time for cleanup and coordination efforts as well as donate essentials to those who need it. We encourage you to add any additional resources in the comments below.

Hardline Coffee Co. is accepting and distributing donations from their location at 515 4th St in Sioux City. As is St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church - Sioux City, and United Way of Siouxland has set up a Siouxland Recovery Fund to aid affected residents. The Tyson Events Center is a Red Cross shelter, but donated items should be taken to Salvation Army of Siouxland for distribution to them. And our friends at KSCJ have been updating a list of information as well at: kscj.com/siouxlandfloodinformation/

In Spencer, Foundation Church has been doing a lot of volunteer coordination and donation distribution for that area.

For Correctionville, donations towards relief efforts can be sent through Venmo to -nonprofit.

In addition to everything our neighbors are dealing with, frauds and scams have also become a problem. FEMA had a press release in Florida that a lot of pertinent information may apply to our situations. https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20240624/be-alert-fraud-after-disaster

For Iowa residents, www.iowa.gov/iowa-disaster-recovery can help you find volunteer efforts and provide monetary donations, as well as help you seek state and federal aid.

And this website allows you to check into county road conditions that aren't covered by 511 so you can plan exit routes safely. www.iceasb.org/roads/

Follow your local agencies for the latest most accurate information in your area for updates to how you can help, where you can donate, and where you can hopefully find some relief at this time:
