On Friday, December 20th, Forsyth County will welcome the Light of the World Giving Machine to The Collection at Forsyth. The Giving Machine provides patrons with the opportunity to purchase items from the vending machine to benefit local charities, including Must Ministries, Atlanta Angels and Ronald McDonald House.
โThe customized red vending machines allow people to choose something to give to someone else in need โ in their own neighborhood or around the world โ through local and international nonprofit organizations. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covers all operating costs,โ explained Paula Malmfeldt, event coordinator.
In 2023, $10.4 million was donated through Giving Machines in 61 locations across seven countries. Since the initiative launched in 2017, more than 2 million people have visited Giving Machines and more than $32 million has been donated.
โParticipating nonprofit organizations received 100% of the contributions, helping millions of people in need worldwide,โ Malmfeldt added.
This is the first time that the Giving Machine will be available in Cu***ng. To celebrate the occasion, a ribbon cutting event is scheduled at The Collection at Forsyth on December 20th at 7 pm.
โWe welcome everyone to join us as we gather to celebrate the season while being able to help charities during this most wonderful time of the year,โ stated Malmfeldt.
Scheduled to join the event are Representative Todd Jones, Northside Hospital Forsyth COO Amy Fischer, and other community members. The event will also feature live music by a violin quartet, with additional surprises in store.
The Giving Machines are loaded with numerous options, including clothing, groceries and other items identified by participating organizations as essential to fulfilling their mission. Options for purchase range from $5 to over $100.
โItโs a beautiful combination of nostalgia meets need,โ Malmfeldt reflected. โI remember getting candy from vending machines growing up.โ
The family-friendly event at The Collection at Forsyth is open to everyone.
โWe look forward to welcoming families and individuals of all ages to this event,โ Malmfeldt stated. โOur sincere thanks to The Collection Forsyth for allowing us to bring The Giving Machines to Forsyth County.โ
The Light of the World Giving Machine will be located at The Collection at Forsyth through January 1, 2025.
