What are your Sunday devotions for this week?
Paul compares life to a race, to the finish line – a sprint that sometimes leaves you breathless, but a race that’s got to be run, even when the finish is not in sight. When you feel you’re not able to take another step, you have to remember that a race takes time and sometimes overwhelming effort, but the hard work pays off. The prize is waiting for you!
Do some of your days seem overwhelming? You might call it a "heavy day." By the time the day is drawing to an end you feel a bit anxious, slightly crushed by circumstances, or not as in control as you would like to be. The word "cast" means "to throw with force." So, Peter is telling us to throw our cares on Jesus with force because we’re so tired dealing with them. Jesus’ strength is greater than ours and no situation or burden is too heavy for Him. Remember this the next time you experience a "heavy day."
Thank you for your listening support and we look forward to being a part of your upcoming week!
When David spoke these words, he was fleeing for his life, and he was scared. Remember these words and repeat them to the Lord when you are frightened and running from some challenge in your life. You need God’s loving grace to get through every day, especially when there are challenges. His grace and lovingkindness is better than any other path you might choose. Sometimes the road is hard but following Him is a road to joy!
Some days, have you ever found yourself asking God, “Why is this happening? Why are you allowing this to happen?” It’s hard to feel confident in God’s goodness when your circumstances don’t feel good at all. In John’s gospel, chapter 9, the apostles challenged Jesus with a question. They had come upon a man who had been born blind and they asked Jesus, “Why? Who was to blame for this?"
And then, after a lifetime of blindness, God healed the man. The reason for this man’s blindness was so that others could see the amazing power of God. It isn’t always easy to walk through a tough time, and healing doesn’t come automatically, but God has a plan, and He has the power. When you feel like questioning, keep your eyes on Him and you will see His power at work.
Happy New Year
Today is a new beginning, a new calendar. We stand at the threshold of 2025. Who knows what lies ahead as we turn the calendar pages. What changes will come our way? What new needs will we have? What will be our blessings? Although a lot is uncertain, we know God has a purpose for each of us in the new year.
If the previous year has been stormy for you, now’s the time to rise above it, leave it behind, and set your mind on God’s promises and His purpose for you. The storms do not have to overcome you. God will strengthen you and lift you above the storms. Fill your heart with hope for what is to come this new year and keep your focus on Him.
“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.’“
In his gospel, Luke tells us an angel announced Jesus’ birth to some shepherds on a hillside. But no sooner had that been done than a whole multitude of heavenly beings was heard celebrating with songs and hymns of praise. May your heart and voice be filled, just as the heavenly host of angels were, praising God for sending his Son to save us. This indeed is the reason for celebration!
