Drug trafficking arrest made early this morning!
Officer Aaron smith and Sergeant Sean Halcomb went to check on a motorist with there emergency flashers on when he was able to begin an investigation that lead to finding over 10 grams of Methamphetamine and just over $1200.00

Kentucky State Police seeking the public's help in locating missing Rockcastle County Man.

Kentucky State Police Issued Golden Alert in Rockcastle County
MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (August 23, 2024) – Kentucky State Police Post 11 is actively investigating a missing persons investigation of a Rockcastle County man with heart problems.

James Anthony Ackerman, 83 of Mount Vernon was last seen at his residence earlier today around 11:00 AM. James left to go to Lowes in Somerset.

James is described as a white male 5’11’’ tall, roughly 185 pounds, with gray hair. James left driving a 2015 White GMC Sierra Pickup, KY TAG 945-TGN.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kentucky State Police Post 11, London at 606-878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.

Trooper Zachary Loudermilk is continuing the investigation.

Mark your calendars for a FREE Mini Golf celebration in downtown Harlan at Huff Park! September 21st is Worldwide Mini Golf Day and we are celebrating in downtown Harlan by creating a mini golf pop up course where every hole will be created and manned by a local organizations, businesses, government agency, or nonprofits! Each hole will be created by the organization and who know what you may be putting with! This event is free for organizations to set up at and pass out information as long as you create and man a hole on the course and will be FREE to the public to come and enjoy the celebration!

Harlan Tourism will be hosting this event and as we get closer to the event, we will post all of the organizations that are generously contributing to making this event a real hole-in-one! As a reminder, we also have a mini golf course at Kingdom Come State Park and we always encourage you to support their course on this day as well!
