Correction: On a previous post we incorrectly reported on a burglary of Cuero's Dollar General. Sometime in the early morning hours of July 2, the store was burglarized through the front entry, according to Cuero Police Chief Steven Ellis. "There is no suspect at this time, but we believe them to be responsible for at least one other burglary in the area," Ellis said.

Congratulations to Cuero High's Valedictorian and Salutatorian!

Valedictorian
Bromli Watson graduated as the Valedictorian of the Cuero High School Class of 2024. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Academic All District Team (four years), as well as a recipient of the Victoria Advocate’s 2024 Varsity Cup Academic Achievement award. Bromli was a 4-year letterman in both volleyball and softball, where she contributed to the first district championship in volleyball since 2009. She was a senior captain and received numerous athletic awards, including 2021 Newcomer of the Year, 1st Team All-District Outstanding Setter of the Year, and a member of the Texas Girl’s Coaching Association All-Star Team. In FFA, she advanced to state competition each year on the Nursery Landscaping Team and won swine championships at the Cuero Livestock Show. Bromli is also a member of the First Baptist Church Youth Program. She plans to attend Blinn College and Texas A&M to pursue a degree in biomedical science and become a physician’s assistant.

Salutatorian
Tanner Fuchs graduated as the Salutatorian of the Cuero High School Class of 2024. He was CHS Student Council president, a member of the National Honor Society and district/ bi-district One Act Play best performing actor. Tanner was selected earlier this year for the 2024 Cuero Chamber of Commerce Citizen of Tomorrow Award and was involved in a number of other community and school associations. He plans on attending Texas State University to pursue a major in electrical engineering.

UPDATE on this morning's Amber Alert in Yorktown.
The children have been located and are safe. We are working to reunite them with their mother.
The DeWitt County Sheriff's Office is working with several agencies and using all resources to bring the children from the most recent Amber Alert home safely.
