PRESS RELEASE – For immediate release

Monday, September 16, 2024

CROSSVILLE, TN – Beginning Tuesday, September 17th through Thursday, September 19th, there will be a lot of bicyclists on the roads in Crossville and Cumberland County, especially in and around the Cumberland Mountain State Park area. They will be participating in various BRAT rides. There are expected to be around 400-430 bicycles.

The Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee (BRAT) is a multi-day bicycle tour through a different part of Tennessee each year. Join us through small towns, farm country, and some of the best cycling Tennessee has to offer.

BRAT is sponsored by Tennessee State Parks and benefits two very important non-profits:

1. The development and protection of the Cumberland Trail, a 300-mile-long footpath down the eastern edge of the Cumberlands. Your BRAT ride is a direct contribution to the preservation of the beauty and history of this place.

2. The Tennessee Park Rangers Association provides scholarships and training opportunities for the Park Rangers throughout the state to continue education in order to continue to provide the highest level of protection for Tennessee State Parks.

If you see the riders out and about, please slow down and give them plenty of room. Remember, bicycles on Tennessee roads have every right of way that any other vehicle has. Don’t crowd them or put them in danger. Leave them plenty of room and allow them to get where they need to go.

8 months after agreeing to make this happen- it happened.
July 22 the state vet approved our facility for a premise permit for our new affordable community spay & neuter clinic.
8 months after one of the best veterinarians in Putnam County agreed to help us open this clinic, it happened.
On August 28th we did our very first surgery under Dr Kathy Gates's supervision. Since that day we have been fortunate to add two amazing Veterinarians from the Knoxville area. Without the direction and help and time committed to this clinic by Dr Gates, we would still have an empty building used for storage. We can't thank you enough for all you have done.
We appreciate all your efforts and insight and hard work. And thank you most of all for the dedication to helping get more animals spay and neutered to prevent unwanted litters.

We appreciate everything you have done!

And thank you for believing in A Time 4 Paws. Your work may be finished in Crossville but you will never be forgotten for all you have done for our community by stepping up to help open this clinic.
THANKYOU DR. KATHY GATES DVM

And now let's welcome our two wonderful veterinarians who will perform surgeries for our clients.
Dr. Ada Singh and Dr. Neelie Rapien. Two fine professionals who we are grateful to add to our team of Animal Heroes. All of these ladies are truly " creating change one paw at a time. "

LETS DO THIS!!!

Roane State Community College - Cumberland County Campus
RSCC cuts ribbon on new health science wing

Roane State hosted a special ceremony at its Cumberland County Campus on Thursday, September 12, 2024, celebrating two major milestones: the completion of a new health science wing named for a state representative and the dedication of the entire campus in memory of two of the site’s strongest local supporters.

College leadership joined Speaker of the House of Representatives Cameron Sexton and members of his family to cut the ribbon for the new Cameron Sexton Health Science Wing. The addition was finished over the summer and is currently home to the first-ever nursing cohort at the campus in Crossville. The expansion includes flexible labs and classrooms to help meet the increased demand for health science education in the area.

In addition to the expansion, the event honored local couple Diane and Jay Brown who were instrumental in bringing a Roane State campus to Cumberland County and helped lead the fundraising effort to build the facility.

The total estimated cost of the health science wing expansion was $2.5 million. The State of Tennessee funded $1.7 million, and local government provided a combined $250,000 between donations from the City of Crossville and Cumberland County. To learn more about the future of the project or to make a direct donation, visit roanestate.edu/cccdonate. (Photo courtesy Roane State)
