From reactions I see on social media posts, there appear to be two types of people who react to a police officer killed on the job. Most will say, oh no, not another cop. Some are more inclined to say, oh well, just another cop. I’m not sure how people can put more value on a dead suspect with a lengthy criminal history than a police officer risking his or her life to keep us safe. Crosslake, Minnesota

This little fish is a 7 year old, 8.6 pound, Chihuahua mix that loves everyone he's ever met! Guppy trusts easily and makes fast friends with people, other dogs, and cats! When Guppy catches sight of his favorite people, he likes to hop up and down like a bunny. When he hears his favorite words: outside and treat, he comes running! Guppy's favorite place to be is under the blankets, cuddling with a friend. Guppy is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. You can visit him at the shelter Tuesdays through Sundays from 8:30 to 5:00 PM!

The Common Loon is a protected species.

Federally, all loons are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act makes it illegal to take, possess, import, export, transport, sell, purchase, barter, or offer for sale any migratory bird or the parts, nests, or eggs of such birds except under the terms of a valid Federal Permit. Loons are protected by state statutes as well.
