The Crookston Area Chamber Ambassadors were out on the town again this week to honor and congratulate two businesses. The second stop was to learn about the new gun shop in town, In-Sight Fi****ms, owned and operated by Steve Erickson and Darin Selzler, both of Crookston.

The location of the new business shares a space with Erickson Embroidery and 2nd Street Boutique at 124 West Second Street in Crookston. Guns and gear were displayed on the main level, but soon transitioned into the newly remodeled basement, which made more sense as not all people love guns. The women sipped and shopped the boutique while the majority of the men shopped guns downstairs.

The duo, Steve and Darin, answered several questions from the Chamber Ambassador Team and offered up various other interesting facts about their newly found business. They sell a lot of guns, provide mounting optics, and accessories. Although gun-smithing isn’t something they do a lot of, they do dip into that service a bit. Gun enthusiasts prefer to touch and handle the guns before they pull the trigger and make the purchase. Most people know what they want when they walk into the store, and Steve and Darin do a lot of ordering in guns, ammunition and other accessories. They also do transfers of guns, trades, and evaluations. Many times, folks receive fi****ms as an inheritance and reach out to Steve and Darin for directions. They are able to give the customers options if they do not wish to keep the firearm. They might know of someone who is looking for that type of gun, specifically.

“It's interesting to actually see what is out there, and some have waited several months for a certain gun. There are so many different types of avenues when purchasing, selling, or trading a firearm”, state the two. Some folks sell to each other where Steve and Darin can assist with the lawful completion of that process. They state the business can never be big enough and the biggest part of the job is the research they put in for their loyal customers.
Store hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00 or by appointment.

Pictured here to congratulate and celebrate the owners of In-Sight Fi****ms are: Mara Wiirre (Economic Development Authority), Randy Schoenborn (RiverView Health), Bobbie Torkelson (H&R Block), Steve Erickson, Darin Selzler, Erin LaPlante (State Farm Insurance), Sherry Coauette (LeBlanc Realty).

The Crookston Area Chamber Ambassadors were out on the town recently to honor and congratulate two businesses.

The first was a stop at OK Tire Store, previously Todds Tire Service. Todd was ready to pass the torch after several years of serving Crookston and the surrounding areas.

Red Smith, Location Manager, reminisced back to 20 years ago when he first started at Todd’s Tire. He shared that Todd was in the building for 42 years back when it was a Cenex gas station. When asked how this sale came to fruition, Red shared that OK Tire was the wholesaler for several years. Additionally, a comprehensive remodel is planned to enhance the facility further. Future plans include adding mechanical services to complement their existing offerings. Currently, they provide a comprehensive range of tire solutions for cars, commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, and UTVs. Additionally, their services cover tracks for farm tractors and other specialty vehicles.

Red talks about the longevity of the work force at OK Tire including Melissa Malo of 16.5 years. In addition to the long-time loyalty of their repeat customers over the years in which they are very appreciate for, he shares the best part of his day is visiting with their customers.

Store hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30-5:30, and 8:00-3:00 on Saturdays for the summer. They remain on-call 24/7.

The Crookston Area Chamber Ambassadors regrouped this week to honor and congratulate two new businesses that Crookston proudly welcomes.
The first stop was at The Jeweler to honor and celebrate Bishop Lee Moronez Jensen. Jensen founded his love and passion for the jewelry industry when he was just 19 years old. He started at Helzberg Diamonds in the Columbia Mall, under the direction of Bernie Hagen. Jensen explains how cool it was to learn in the power-hungry environment that was at the top tier of the industry. Jensen then left for Sioux Falls to learn the trade of Gold and Silver Smithing in all three levels. He soon returned back to the region to continue work at Helzberg Diamonds and later Riddles Jewelry Store in Grand Forks. Jensen then pitched to Riddles Jewelry Store the idea to open up shop in Crookston following the closing of Munn’s Jewelers. He then found himself owning and operating as a Jeweler Specialist at The Jeweler in Downtown Crookston.

Jensen opened The Jeweler in Crookston in February of 2024. He describes himself as shopper friendly and runs a fair shop. The name Jewler stands for transparency, just as he is with his customers. He debated opening a repair shop exclusively, but later expanded his knowledge to include secondary market values. He bought inventory, acquired a couple investors, and soon his dream of owning his own jewelry shop became a reality. Not only does Jensen sell jewelry, but he also sizes and repairs it as well. He has the hope of renovating more space within time. Jensen is now promoting a sale of 40% off Lab Grown Diamonds for all first-time customers.

Congrats to Bishop Lee Moronez Jensen on successfully opening his very own store, The Jeweler. He is located at 103 S Main Street. His phone number is (218) 280- 7620, and email is [email protected] Store hours are Tuesday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Pictured here, left to right to congratulate Jensen is: Randy Schoenborn (RiverView Health), Bobbie Torkelson (H&R Block), Carrie Bergquist, Jensen, Lindsey Erdman (Benedictine Living Community-Crookston), Tracy Kuchan and Sherry Coauette (LeBlanc Realty).
