List of proven Unethical Merchants of Crestview :
2010 : G2C (aka: Trans Sand) Stone Yard and Delivery -- Billed for 10 tons of driveway stones for delivery which is 1/2 a DumpTruck, but recieved approx. 1 ton -- the pile measured 10' long x 3' wide x 2' high. The last 10 tons of stones I purchased from them poured to 50' long x 3"deep x 8' wide. I complained to their Office but they said it was 10 tons that I received. I sent them a picture of the miniscule pile of stones that was dumped and the Office Lady accused me of taking some stones off the pile before I took the picture.
2010 : Precision TuneUp Car Repair : Shoddy work on Brakes ; tried to charge $500 to replace 6 only Spark Plugs . Strong sales pitches .
2011: CB Auto Paint and Body : Shoddy work on repainting of car ; caused additional damage to the cars trim and ran down the battery overnight so it wouldnt recharge . Took it back for them to refinish the surface, and I got it back with a ton of swirl marks all over the body. (This Merchant has since gone out of business because of their bad could-care-less work) .
2011: Vettes Unlimited Corvette Car Repair : Didnt install certain parts yet charged for them such as stainless steel brake lines ; did unsafe work resulting in oil dripping down on the hot exhaust nearly causing a fire . Did shoddy work numerous times . Admitted to racing the car on the street without my permission. They always returned the car with oil marks and heavy dirt marks on the exterior. They installed a complete new a/c system for over $4,000 but installs the wrong size belt so it kept jumping off the compressor pulley. The system kept freezing up after 20 min. of operation --- admitted to not pulling a deep enough system vacuum in accordance to the Mfgr written instructions. I had to complete the installation myself because I didn't want them touching my car ever again. They take no pride in their work , gouge the Consumer on the pricing , don't do what you asked the to do, install parts in a rushed manner....and are all about making money as fast as they can for as little work as possible. Many Corvette Owners complain about this Merchant --- particularly the shoddy work. They admitted guilt by refunding me almost $300 after some persistence .
2012: Firewood Delivery (individual) in Holt, Fl . with sign on Log Lake Rd near the little airport : Quoted $80 for a 4'x8' stack delivered ; showed up with a 3.5'x5' stack on his trailer. I insisted he readjust his price before I paid him. A deliberate rip off attempt. He apologized. I suggested he buys a Tape Measure so his Customers don't get cheated ----- he says : 'Sounds like a good idea' . .
2012: Riviera Fitness : Attempted to not refund my unused membership monies ($237.00) when I complained of getting sick from working out there including many more frequent Colds, sniffles, coughing , light headedness (the symptoms cleared up an hour after I would leave the building) . Other Members complained of the same symptoms occurring. Their former Cleaning Person told me she saw mold in many places . I sat outside at the Curb with a big sign displayed on Route 85 at Dinner time and after 2 days the Corporate Office finally made the Owner give me back my unused monies.
2013 : One Blood, Inc. (for donating blood on Route 85 at back of Dunkin Donuts) . I was taken into a small pre-test room first so they could get a sample amount from me ; the Person coughs a few times without covering her mouth then removes the alchohol swab patch from the package and places it on the table ., then prepares the needle. She picks up the swab patch and cleans the area on my arm with the swab that was face down on the table (Duh !) . She puts the same side swab down on the table again as she proceeds to remove the needle..then uses the same side swab to clean up the needle hole (Duh x Two !) . I then get led to the general area where there are reclining chairs for hookup to the Blood Machine . A different Person gets me hooked up with needle and tubes ; she is wearing plastic gloves . For most of my time on the Machine, this Person is standing talking to a fellow Employee but with her arms crossed with gloved hands deep inside her armpits wearing a short sleeve shirt. Additionally, she sneezes into her gloved hands before unhooking me using the same gloves . I include this experience based on the lack of health concerns and unprofessional actions of the Employees. It was reported to the District Supervisor and she emailed me to apologize and said protocol was not followed.
2013 : Temple Fitness on Main St. I walked thru the facility with the Owners wife and specifically asked 'What temperature do you keep the thermostats at ?' . SHe responded : '73 f. and they are left like that all the time' . I signed up for membership and 2 weeks later, the Male Owner puts all the thermostats up to 75 f. with the B.S. excuse that some members were complaining it was too cold in the facility during work outs. I told the Male Owner what his wife told me about the thermostat setting ... and he cancels my membership a couple days later . These Owners are unethical and don't mind lieing if it benefits them so.
Dec. 2013 : Dr. David Mills, Eye Surgeon (Offices in Crestview/Fort Walton Beach/Gulf Breeze/Milton) : Did cataract surgery on my Mothers left eye and completely botched the surgery according to two independent Surgeons . Caused my mother a lot of out of pocket expense in medications, special ointments , drops to try and heal the eye since the surgery and is now left with partial vision , the feeling of sand in her eye , and continued need of ointments and drops 3 times per day. Even the Optometrist that recommended David Mills admitted the surgery was botched . My Mother has endured a lot of pain and suffering.
2014: The popular O.C.'s Towing Service . Unfortunately, this is the ONLY Towing Service for Crestview and the greater Crestview area for miles around, so, youre sort of stuck with their often unprofessionalism 'F. it' attitude. The latest is as follows : I get stuck in some deep sand on my Road at 8 a.m. and immediately call them ; I get promised in 45 min. or less, someone will be there in a Tow Truck. 3 hours goes by without hearing from them then finally I call them. Turns out the Tow Truck went down my street about a 1/4 mile, didn't see my car in the middle of the road, so turned around and left (my road runs 2 miles long and I was at about the 1/2 mile point and the Driver had my exact house number -- he claims 'he drove for quite a ways on my road' . All this without any phone contact from them .
2014: Michles and Booth Attorneys, Crestview Office. My elderly mother suffered some serious medical malpractice and I went by their office and spent a good hour giving the Secretary a lengthy chronological list of my Mothers Doctors visits . The secretary told me within 1-2 days Mr . Michles would be phoning me . 7 days goes by and no phone call, so, I went in and told the same Secretary that I haven't heard anything from him. SHe apologizes and assures me that she will find out and call me very soon. 4 more days go by and no phone call for anyone. Same typical service that has made the South notorious for unprofessionalism . Why advertise for business if a Merchant isn't even going to get back to the customer who has a valid legal case (?) .
10-30-14 : Golden Asian Buffet, Route 85, Crestview, Fl. The food was average but is never really hot in temperature. But what really irks me is when they put on a big sign out from that the early bird special is $5.95 from 1:45 to 3:45 pm Mon thru Fri . then when you pay at the counter they try and charge you $8.95 . After you tell the Lady who looks like she could be one of the Owners that its within the Discount early bird time...she then tells you ' Well, ill take 10% off of the $8.95 then' . I then went outside and took a picture of her sign and went back in to show her the picture . Her response ? : ' Oh, I wasn't aware of that ' . Its a shame they don't mind thievery but then again...maybe they get away with that in China (?) . At any rate, this place qualifies as being unethical in addition to having a major cockroach infestation not too long ago as reported in the local Newspaper and on TV channel 3. Pensacola .
11-1-14 : North Okaloosa Medical Center (Hospital) . I took my mom in to Emergency yesterday cause she had a lot of blood in her urine . Heres the treatment she got :
1. Put in a cubicle that was so cold it was ridiculous. The door was propped open by a chair . I removed the chair to sit down and the door closes shut.
2. She was yelling for a nurse to give her some blankets and no one came . Nurses were within 30 feet . I had to round up a nurse to bring some and it took forever... then she just tosses them on the bottom corner of the bed.
3. She was left in urinated street clothes for 3 hours and never changed out of them into scrubs.
4. When released, they never removed the sticky dots that held the monitoring wires to her chest . They never removed the catheter from her arm and left the needle in her arm too. She removed it when she got home.
5. They were so shorthanded that a guy had to transfer my mom to another portable bed for the CT Scan , so he bound her up in a bed sheet and hoisted her onto another bed by himself knocking my mom around in the process.
6. They move slow as if they have a morale problem .
DO NOT go here unless you only have minutes to live. Its painfully obvious their standards are low and their staff needs proper training. And don't believe the big sign on Route 85 that says 'They are the finest voted hospital 3 years in a row' --- the vote had to be from their Employees only . The level of care is sub-standard. Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola puts them to high shame.
Jan. 2015 : Pep Boyz , Route 85, Crestview, Fl. I took my 2004 Hyundai SantaFe SUV in for a Brake inspection since I was adding brake fluid every so often. After they completed the inspection, the sheepish-looking Counter Man reports that Im 'in need of about $3,000 worth of brake work' consisting of all new brake lines, master cylinder , two new front rotors, one caliper, set of pads . I thought to myself that is very interesting since just 12 months ago I had a complete front brake job performed at Goodyear in Niceville, Fl. and I put less than 9,000 miles on that work. So, I decided to get a second opinion from a notable Auto Repair Shop on Main St. . The report came back with one brake line having developed some rusting letting some fluid out slowly / all other brake lines were fine / and the front and rear brakes looked new still including the pads. The cost to fix the brake line was $275 including labor and materials and the car is working flawlessly since. I suspect that the Pep Boyz counter SALESMAN gets a commission based on extras he can convince the Consumer of.
Feb. 2016. This one is in Fort Walton Beach,Fl. but the customer service is so appaulingly incompetent , i had to write about it : Emerald Coast Vision Center in Walmart, FWB,FL. Ive used this merchant for about 2 years for eye exams and contact lenses reorder. ALL BUT one time they havent messed up something including wrong prescription, wrong base curve on the contacts, the secretary giving the Optometrist someone elses folder instead of mine during an exam, rushing me in n out , not confirming the contacts fit properly, loosing my file and costing me a 25 mile trip for nothing, the Doctor not returning my call when she said she would, and poor overall morale with the office help. Flying by the seat of their pants. Prize example of sheer incompetence on a customer service and professional level. A real aggravation builder !
