Hello everyone, good morning!

Hope you’re all having a nice weekend so far. Here is the April edition of Action.

This issue spotlights the annual Rhode Island Invitational, new inductees into the Southeastern Massachusetts USBC Hall of Fame and the final - and thrilling - week of the RI Junior Travel League.

A quick programming note: The May edition of Action will come out early in the month, but the June edition will likely be out in the middle of that month. Reason being, we’ll be at the USBC Open Championships during Memorial Day weekend and production will be slightly delayed as a result.

In the meantime, thank you all again for your support and enjoy the April edition of Action!

Hello everyone and good morning!

Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the weekend so far.

Here is the November edition of the Action newsletter. Sorry for the brief delay in publishing it; had some production matters to take care of with it.

Hello everyone and good morning!

Hope you’re enjoying the early fall so far. Here’s the October edition of the Action newsletter!

There were plenty of events going on in the Rhode Island area, which includes the Rhode Island USBC Masters, PBA pros paid the state a visit and local junior bowlers being recognized for their efforts last year. Plus, a Massachusetts player finally broke through to win his first NEBA.

Check it all out in this month’s Action newsletter!

PHOTOGRAPHER NEEDED!!!

Hi everyone and good morning! Hope you all are enjoying the weekend.

I’m seeking a photographer to help with photos of the match play portion of the Rhode Island USBC Masters on Sept. 29 at Lang’s Bowlarama in Cranston. I unfortunately won’t be there due to a personal commitment that day.

Requirements are action photos of the event, which will last a few hours, including portraits of the winner afterward. Photos will be part of the October edition of Action, and we’ll need a quick turnaround in time for publication (estimated publication date is Oct. 12).

We can negotiate a freelance pay rate and photography experience is preferred. Those interested are encouraged to reach out to me at [email protected] or send me a DM on my personal page.

Thanks so much and hope to hear from you soon!

Hello everyone and good morning! Hope you all are doing well.

Thank you all again for your support on our endeavor, I do truly appreciate it.

Here is the latest edition of the Action newsletter. Along with tournament coverage, we also have our second installment of our "Local Legends" series, this time featuring Chris Monroy. We take a look back at Chris' long road to becoming a NEBA hall of famer and a PBA regional champion.

And also, as a side note, we will repost in the comments the August edition of Action. For some odd reason, Facebook flagged it and removed the post, citing it violated community standards. No idea why.

In the meantime, enjoy your weekend and the September edition of Action!

Hello everyone and good morning! Hope your weekend is off to a nice start - and for those in Rhode Island, a nice long weekend at that.

Today we are unveiling not only our August edition of the Action newsletter to kick off year No. 6, but also mark the debut of the Action Newsletter/New England Bowling All-Area Teams!

The teams consist of 25 main bowlers across two teams - Adult and Junior - and a few honorable mention selections. The bowlers, vetted by us at the newsletter and by Matt Hansen of New England Bowling, recognized the players' accomplishments of the past year, especially in tournaments. We thank Matt for his input, as well as to those who reached out to us to provide nominations for players to make the teams.

Also, we recognize for each team co-MVPs, honoring performances from this year that stood out the most.

So, who were selected for the teams for the 2023-24 season? Take a look through the new edition of the Action newsletter.

Thanks again for all your support and enjoy the start of our sixth year of Action!

Hello everyone and good afternoon!

Hope you all are doing well. Just posting a reminder, we are formally partnering with New England Bowling to create the Action / New England Bowling All-Area Teams, honoring the top adult and junior performers during the 2023-24 season from July 2023 through June 2024. The teams will be profiled in the August edition of the Action newsletter.

Our All-Area Teams will consist of 15 top adult bowlers and 10 top junior bowlers who reside in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Each bowler will be selected based on their performances both in league and tournament competition – locally, regionally and nationally. These All-Area selections are similar to how local newspapers choose the top high-school athletes during a specific season.

There will be a heavy emphasis on tournament performance for All-Area team selection, however we will certainly consider outstanding league performances as a selection metric as well.

Each bowler will have a mini season bio written about them noting their accomplishments from the past year. Additionally, there will be “MVPs” selected for both the adult and junior teams. Each MVP will be given a full-length feature profile in the newsletter.

Now, we certainly know quite a few bowlers in the area and what they have accomplished over the past year between last July and this month. However, we want to be equitable to everyone and we kindly ask you to send us information on local bowlers you wish to consider for the teams.

Therefore, we kindly ask you to email along a short, written bio/resume of the bowlers’ accomplishments from the past year, from honor scores to league/tournament performances and results. Bowlers can consider themselves for the team and/or have an individual send in their information on their behalf.

The deadline for submissions/recommendations is quickly approaching. We request that you to email the resumes/nominations to either Action Editor James Bessette at [email protected] or to Matt Hansen at [email protected] by no later than Monday, July 15. From there, Matt and James will review the submissions and make the selections for the team.

Please either comment below, send us a DM or email either James or Matt with any questions and we’ll be happy to answer/clarify anything. We’re looking forward to recognizing everyone in August and hope to hear from you all soon!
