Our Story
Cypress Magazine has been a reality since the summer of 2017 with a coverage area including North Shelby, Tipton, Lauderdale, Fayette, Haywood, Hardeman, Rural Madison, Crockett, Hardin, Gibson, McNairy, Dyer, Obion, Weakley, Henry, Benton, Chester, Decatur, Lake, and Henderson Counties. We publish 10 issues a year, February through December. (March and April are together!)
"When we started to look at the area we wanted to cover with this magazine, we realized just how diverse a population we are-and how very special our people are,” said Lucianne Shoffner, publisher and editor-in-chief of Cypress Magazine. "We are unabashedly and proudly, Western Tennessee, a part of The South," Shoffner explains. “We celebrate our towns and heritage, we are the Tomato Festival of Ripley...we are the International Goat Days Festival of Millington...we are the famed Grand Champion Munford Band...we are music on the square in Arlington...we are the award-winning Bobcats of Haywood High School in Brownsville...we are Catfish in Paris...we are The Spot in Savannah, and the Mindfield Grill in Brownsville...we are a morning stroll through the square in Covington...we are a night at the Fair Theatre in Somerville, or watching a movie at the Luez Theatre in Bolivar. Cypress is not just a magazine...it's a celebration of our American towns; and a tribute to our Southern heritage. Celebrating our towns and heritage, we are #MyCypress #CypressMagazine #OurTowns #OurHeritage
