Laura Hernandez is one of our bilingual Project Managers at MBI. Her experience working in various industries and building positive relationships with her community, both nationally and internationally, has shaped her unique perspective and approach to help organizations understand the important role they have in connecting with their communities.

She believes in leading with empathy and compassion and advocates for promoting a creative, diverse and inclusive environment during every step of her professional journey.

Liz Mazariegos is a Project Manager for MBI, coming up on her 6th work anniversary this summer!

She's led many different types of public outreach and strategic communications efforts for municipalities and transportation agencies across multiple regions of Southern California.

Liz loves working with MBI and being surrounded by so many amazing female role models. As a new mom, she's motivated in making her daughter proud and supporting her in leading the next generation of successful women.

Celebrate Women’s History Month with MBI as we highlight the accomplishments of our staff.

Pamela Tyus-Smith, MBI Project Manager, knows how to get people involved. With over 17 years of experience from her time working in radio, she's become an expert in how to engage with communities all over Southern California.

Thanks to a chance encounter with a radio station's promotions director, Pamela soon found herself on a path that took her from being an intern, to the Director of Marketing and Promotions at Salem Media Group, overseeing over 75 annual events, ranging from small, community events to massive, talent-driven events with 2,000-plus attendees.

In March 2018, she received recognition as one of Radio’s Future African American Leaders in Radio Ink, the radio industries leading trade publication. Her attention to the smallest details helped her succeed and continue to help MBI engage with the communities that we work with.

Since graduating with a bachelor's in Communications and Master's in Business Administration, Erica Boatman-Dixon, MBI Project Manager, has used her public relations know-how to help businesses succeed across the country, from shopping centers and entertainment venues, to government agencies and more.

During her time as a Marketing Administrator at a fintech company, she assisted them with its volunteer outreach efforts and received recognition from the Jefferson Awards Foundation (now Multiplying Good), pictured here.

Now, she uses her expertise and insight gained from her previous positions to manage projects impacting environmental outreach efforts and compliance as well.

Since her days at Cal Poly SLO, Chris Michel was taught to be hands on. Working behind the scenes, she takes pride in having mentored, pushed, and molded women and men into better places in their career and in growing companies and herself, all at the same time.

As MBI's COO, she feels that it's her mission to make the next generation better than the last by instilling a philosophy of adaptation and perseverance in her employees; If something isn't working, then it's time to change the way we approach the problem.

Pictured here are Chris' grandchildren. With three granddaughters (and a grandson on the way), Chris feels her family is her biggest accomplishment to date as she readies herself to guide them into the next generation of amazing women.

Many of you know our Founder and Chair, Mary McCormick, as a dedicated communicator for the transportation, engineering, and environmental industries. But we celebrate our leader for her groundbreaking accomplishment of being the first television camerawoman at NBC’s Seattle affiliate, KING TV.

Mary’s career brought her face-to-face with real-life danger, excitement, and drama, but most importantly, it taught her of the importance of quality, transparent communication and connections to communities. 4-time Emmy award winner, she guides her staff with the heart of true care and consideration.

MBI’s CEO, Mary McCormick, was honored to facilitate the Southern California Regional Rail Authority’s (Metrolink) Board of Directors December 2021 workshop.

Updates were provided in multiple areas including state and federal legislative funding, rail to zero emissions locomotives program, safety/security and ridership forecasts.
