Sometimes we film in a crypt. Yup you heard that right! I love the way new churches are finding creative uses for the spaces in these old buildings. There’s even a coffee shop down here!

What a week! What a project! What a team! Keep an eye out during the Super Bowl for a “He Gets Us” ad and follow the learn more link to the videos we shot this week. We had some incredible people, share some powerful thoughts on faith, in some rather cool looking locations all for the purpose of sharing Jesus with the world in a compelling, approachable, and non-weird way. This is EXACTLY the kind of work we created Setter Studios for. What a pleasure to get to create with such a stellar team! It’s all better because of each of your gifts and talents.

Never in a million years would we have imagined this…. And we can’t even tell you how grateful we are for every client, every story, and every film we’ve gotten to be apart of producing over the past 6 years since starting Setter Studios. We created this company to help businesses, non profits and faith based organizations tell their stories to the world. This year we had the crazy opportunity to win 4 more Telly Awards for Best Non-Scripted Documentary Series with , two Virtual Events with and a Sustainability Documentary with Urban Agriculture. We are profoundly grateful, humbled, and just plain 🤯 mind blown! Thank you from the bottom our our hearts.

Summer camp at Hume Lake is a place where my life was forever changed and a place I hope continues to impact the lives of youth for generations ahead.

If you don’t know Hume they produce an epic six-episode film every summer that is a launchpad each day of camp throughout the week. More than twenty thousand campers see these films every summer. This year invited us to play a part in their film series. Jess and I just wrapped a three day shoot where we teamed up with our dear friends and where each of us directed two of six episodes. When we weren’t directing we were the other guy’s cam ops and grips. We experimented with crazy lighting, LED pillars, projectors as backgrounds and even projectors as light sources!

These past few days have been not only incredibly meaningful to be apart of, truly and honor for me and , but also so stinking fun to be creative with people who have been friends for nearly twenty years!

Summer 2022 at Hume will have a film series outside the box from anything they have ever done before.

There are only 25 blimps said to be still active in the world today and activated one over the skies of Southern California for the past 10 days! Did you see it?!?! I mean who doesn’t love blimps, right?! The nostalgia, the fun of surprise spotting it, the bright red airship passing our favorite place in our towns, it’s just plain fun!!

This dream and vision has been months in the making and it came to reality through the hard work and ingenuity of these two power women and ! All of the SoCal stores came together through this launch by giving away the opportunity to win free chicken if you spotted the blimp using I can’t wait to see the excitement of the 56 winners!

Through this week Setter Studios had the joy and honor to Direct/DP the whole video aspect alongside our incredible team of filmmakers. We are blown away and grateful from the bottom of our hearts 🙏🏻 for being trusted with this stellar project!

Over the past few weeks we’ve we had the incredible opportunity to work on a short film for Christmas Eve services. Jess and I say we love what we do regularly, but projects like this are exceptionally dear to our hearts because we get to work with people we love.

We are currently working on the 2022 You Series for and we couldn’t be more honored to be apart of this meaningful work that will inspire and change the hearts of youth across the nation and the world. This sequence is for one of the mini documentary films within the series and is about the life story and testimony of (you should stop right now and go check out his story on his profile)…. What an amazing example of radical life change. Sentenced to life in prison and today no longer in prison leading a prison ministry - amazing right?!? This is the 2nd of 3 destination shoots for the Alpha Youth film series.

I was invited by to go to Costa Rica to DP a NatGeo style documentary pilot episode for a future project for What a joy to be part of this incredible team! It’s going to be an amazing week in the jungles looking for wildlife big and small!
