Wayne sophomore Tully Wood closed out his sophomore season earlier this morning defeating Kaden Lange in a 10-6 decision to finish in 7th place, earning his spot on the podium in Class 1A 144 lb. WAYNE SENDS THREE TO STATE IN CLASS 1A WRESTLING

It was an exciting day on the mats for Falcon grapplers and fans as Wayne traveled to Interstate 35 for a day of District Wrestling to see who would continue on in their quest for shot at a state title. It's always a day where tears are shed through happiness and heartbreak alike. At the conclusion of the day, Wayne would see three of their own move on to state.
Wayne sophomore Tully Wood will be making a back to back repeat appearance at state after defeating Cord Hamilton (Central Decatur) by way of fall to become the district champion in the 144 lb. divison.
Wayne junior Fischer Buckingham also ended his day securing the district champion title after taking down Gabe Wagner (Panorama) in a 4-1 decision in the 157 lb. weight class.
Falcon senior Cutler Buban will close out his high school career at the Well after securing the runner-up place in the 215 lb. class with his victory over Roman Scheffler (AHSTW) by way of fall.
We are proud of each of these boys and the entire Falcons team for your great showing today at Districts! Falcon Pride!

Times-Republican, where the times are a changin’

By Jen Reed

Forty years ago, on Jan. 23, 1979, history was made when The Times-Republican issue from that date came from their new location. It was the first time in more than 90 years the newspaper did not originate from the office at 113 West Jackson Street.

Since that time, The Times-Republican has seen more growth. Advancements in technology and even taking another growth step when we upgraded to our newest and current location at 204 South Franklin Street.

Taking a step back in time, the first paper in Wayne County was called the South Tier Democrat and was established in approximately 1860. During this era the paper sympathized with the confederacy.
