Congratulations to Billy White III, of Veterans Memorial High School, as our Student Athlete of the Week! Billy is a junior with a 4.06 grade point average. He has been a phenomenal athlete for the Eagles over the past two years. As a sophomore, Billy was the starting quarterback and threw for over three thousand yards. This year he has shifted his focus strictly to basketball.
Billy is looking to pursue a degree in sports communications in college. The challenging issue for Billy right now is choosing the school. As of today, he has received seventeen division one scholarships which include power four schools. He has not decided where he will attend and will make a choice where he can receive instant playing time. After his career is over, he wants to become a broadcaster and use his knowledge of the game as an analyst.
Billy and his teammates have volunteered their time as mentors for the local elementary schools near Veterans Memorial. He has also mentored the youth at his church, setting a notable example and being a role model.
Billy and his sister Nya are the first brother and sister recognized as Student Athletes of the Week in the same school year.
