South Texas Catholic

South Texas Catholic The South Texas Catholic is the official publication for the Diocese of Corpus Christi.

In the Diocese of Corpus Christi's evangelization efforts we serve as a medium for the bishop’s messages; a venue to report activities of parishes, institutions and organizations; a way of keeping the faithful abreast of national and international issues facing the church; and a vehicle to promote the work of diocesan departments, programs and services.

Diocesan and parish-based efforts are essential to our shared call to discipleship. Working together, the people of the Diocese of Corpus Christi initiate and strengthen numerous ministries throughout the Coastal Bend: parishes, faith formation, families, young people, clergy, and those in need.
Together, we can make a difference!

Growing in faith: More than 50 college students from the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Newman Center held their annual Awakening Retreat at the Pax Christi Retreat Center. Students prepared and led the program, and Bishop Mulvey celebrated Mass on Saturday. These days together were a great opportunity for all of them to deepen their faith and create lasting friendships.

Living Hope Groups are an essential part of the concept of the Farm of Hope. These groups provide support for family members of those struggling with addiction, individuals who have completed their rehabilitation, and anyone interested in exploring their spirituality. The first meeting of a Living Hope Group in Corpus Christi took place at Holy Family Catholic Church. Thank you to all the brothers who accepted the invitation to dive into the Gospel and put it into practice, just like the early Christians. You can join them every Monday at 7 pm in the Fr. Fernandez Hall at Holy Family Parish in Corpus Christi. The group welcomes both men and women. For more information, please call or leave a message at (361) 910-5461.

When Fr. Richard Libby, pastor at St St. Helena of the True Cross of Jesus in Corpus Christi Tx participated in last year's educational conference of the Catholic Medical Association, he ran into Dr. Sean Hutzler, a parishioner from St. Pius X Catholic Church. Together, they decided to start a local guild of the Catholic Medical Association in Corpus Christi. After a first encounter in November, they got together with 10 more people and tried to discern how to support Catholics working in this area. One novelty: On October 16, the first "White Mass" will be celebrated in the Diocese of Corpus Christi for all working or interested in the medical field. Mark your calendars!
If you want to know more about the Catholic Medical Association Guild, contact Fr. Libby at [email protected]
