Protestors with today’s “Justice for Doug” rally have set up across the road from the London City Police Department to voice their displeasure with the recent officer-involved shooting incident that occurred in the Lily community of Laurel County and resulted in the death of 63-year-old Doug Harless.
Again, look in the Jan. 8 print edition of the News Journal for an updated report concerning to ongoing investigation.
A “Justice for Doug” rally is underway in downtown London. The event was organized to help raise awareness about the situation involving Doug Harless, a Lily man who was shot and killed at his home by London City Police when they were attempting to serve a search warrant on the evening of Dec. 23.
Kentucky State Police, who is in charge of the investigation, said in a press release that the incident had taken place at 511 Vanzant Road in southern Laurel County, but Laurel County Dispatch audio after the shooting indicates that officers were trying to serve a search warrant at 489 Vanzant Road.
Some new details in the investigation have come to light in recent days, and will be included in an updated report in the News Journal’s January 8 print edition. Organizers of today’s rally have asked that all attendees remain peaceful. Another event is being planned for later in the month.

Severe weather
Following up on our earlier post concerning Tuesday evening storm damage in Whitley County, this video has been shared to us by follower Luke Osborne, who lives in close proximity to some of the hardest hit areas off of Bee Creek Road.
Rotation can clearly be seen, and we now know that this storm was responsible for considerable damage to property and homes located in this portion of the county.
We are continuing to gather information, and will provide a more detailed update on the situation Wednesday morning on our website.
