s currently the drama/theatre teacher at Loris High School in Loris, South Carolina. James High School in Murrells Inlet, SC where she not only taught regular classes but also ran the Drama Club, the Improv Club, and started a semi-annual Improv Night and Talent Showcase, featuring the talent of young student actors in improv comedy, original monologues, scenes, and short plays, and performances in published works. Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from the University of Virginia where she designed and directed numerous shows. She has worked at several professional theatres, including Williamstown Theatre Festival, North Shore Music Theatre, Summer Theatre at Mount Holyoke College, Mill Mountain Theatre, and the Academy of Fine Arts. She has studied under numerous theatre artists, including Tom Bloom, James Noone, David Leong, Patti D'Beck, Gregg Barnes, and Monica Russell. A few of her directing and design credits include The Diviners, Dancing at Lughnasa, Trifles, And A Child Shall Lead, Picnic, Rabbit Hole, Footloose, and Legally Blonde. Laura also enjoys spending time with family, friends, her dogs, and designing home decor through her business "Laura Linen Home Decor.' She currently resides in Conway, South Carolina. OnTheGrandStrand.com is excited to announce that our main Admin and our Director of Audio & Tech for 'Performing Arts On The Grand Strand' is Joey O'Connor. Joey O'Connor has been a musician all of his life. Starting with classical piano and classical violin when he was 5, and even learning to play the recorder and glockenspiel through the Kindermusik program, in the mid 1980's he began getting more in to Rock and Heavy Metal music when he started playing electric bass for the upper school high-school band at Greensboro Day School in Greensboro, NC. Joey went on to play electric bass and electric guitar for many bands around the Greensboro Triad area. Joey worked for many years as a salesman and guitar instructor for Moore Music Company / The Music Loft in Greensboro, NC. Joey was also a sound engineer - running sound for various bands in the Triad area - and during that same time period he recorded many bands in the area using his mobile recording studio. Lately, over the past few years after moving to the Grand Strand area, he has been hired to run sound for many organizations, events, and school plays including St. James High School for their 2015 performance of Footloose and back again for their 2016 performance of Legally Blonde as well as Socastee High School for one of Show Choir performances. He is a registered composer/author with BMI under both his legal name, Harry J. O'Connor, III as well as Joey O'Connor. His posts on our social media will be signed "Joey".
