On November 14, 2025, Conway Police Officers arrested 55-year-old George Edwards after responding to a call for service about a reported suspicious meeting involving a possible juvenile victim.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with Edwards and conducted their own investigation. After speaking with him and reviewing information on scene, officers developed probable cause to believe Edwards intended to meet someone he believed to be a 13 year old and had engaged in inappropriate sexual conversations prior to arriving.

Edwards was taken into custody without incident, interviewed by detectives, and transported to the Faulkner County Detention Center on felony charges related to the attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

We are sharing this incident to raise awareness for parents and the community. Online communication continues to be a major avenue for offenders attempting to contact children. Please talk with your children about their online activity, know who they are interacting with, and report anything suspicious immediately.

If you ever suspect inappropriate contact with a minor, please contact the Conway Police Department.

UPDATE: 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16 -- Crews have completed repairs to the raw water line from Brewer Lake. Water quality stayed safe, and the system is back to normal operation. Thank you to everyone who helped by reducing nonessential water use while repairs were underway.
---------------------------------
Conway Corp water department crews are currently repairing a break in the raw water line that carries water from Brewer Lake to the Roger Q Mills Jr. Water Treatment Plant.

Water quality has not been affected, and your water remains safe for drinking.

To complete the repair, water flow from Brewer Lake to the plant will be shut down at 6 p.m. this evening (Saturday, November 15). Once the line is dewatered, welders will begin their work overnight.

There is no water curtailment in place right now, but depending on repair conditions, a curtailment may become necessary. As a precaution, any voluntary efforts to reduce nonessential water use such as delaying laundry, dishwashing or outdoor watering would be appreciated. This helps ensure we maintain adequate water levels while repairs are underway.

We appreciate your patience as our crews work quickly and safely to restore full system capacity.
