The pro debut of "The Dancing Master": Chuck Walker. 1977. 10 round main event. Phx. Against Irish Tony McMinn. One of the hardest punching middlewts in the division. CW wins unanimous decision, not losing one round on any of the 3 judges scorecards. But I came away with a broken nose and an injured right hand that plagues me to this day! Ain't boxing grand!!! ... HELL YES!!! It was the first time in history a boxer had debuted in a 10 rd fight against a contender and won.

The morning of the Everett Martin fight ... July 4th weekend, 1986!!! Why am I so cheerful? Because I'd just made weight and could now EAT after two weeks of utter misery!!! But the fight thrust me into the world's elite top ten super-middleweights. A title fight seemed inevitable. So how could so many good, intelligent, well-meaning people screw it up soooo bad ... and I'm including myself in that line-up!!!

1978 ... I had the world by the tail!!! Just out of the Olympics ... Owned my own dance studio in Phoenix ... Fighting pro ... Performing regularly with my own dance entertainment company ... TV appearances on Dance Fever in Hollywood ... And having a blast!!! I've always been marked with extreme ambition ... and I'm truly not sure if it has been a blessing or a curse???

16 years old ... Won the AZ State Golden Gloves Championship in Phoenix ... Here with two of the most influential men in my life:
Trainer Gene Lewis and my Dad Chas. Walker Sr.. This trophy was awarded me as the most outstanding fighter pound for pound in the tournament. Back when it was actually fun!!! Later - with international success and turning pro - it became "Un-Fun". And I fought for another seventeen years!!!

A former opponent and good guy ... Everett Martin ... we boxed in 86 at Del Lago, Tx. to a hard-fought draw. Martin then grew from Super-middleweight to Heavyweight and fought 17 world champions (a record) including Larry Holmes, George Foreman, Vladmir Klitchsko, Riddick Bowe, Bonecrusher Smith, Tim Witherspoon, and Tony Tucker. Now I hear that Everett has passed on to that big ring in the sky ... Much, much respect my friend!!! We gave them their money's worth in '86.

This was 6 wks of training camp (Representatives and alternates) in Burlington, Vermont prior to the 1976 Olympic Games.
