As you decorate, children can practice following instructions, learn new vocabulary, and engage in storytelling by describing their creations! Plus, it’s a fun, hands-on activity that sparks creativity and imagination.

Get into the holiday spirit while enhancing literacy skills!

COLUSA COUNTY ALERT: New 837 Area Code Coming to the 530 Area Code Region

Effective January 31, 2025, Colusa County (and all 530 jurisdictions) will add a new area code (837) to the existing 530 region. This overlay is the addition of another area code (837) to the same geographic region as the existing area code (530). The overlay does not require customers to change their existing area code or telephone numbers, or make calls.

πŸ“±What should customers do?
πŸ”· Customers should ensure that all services, automatic dialing equipment, or other types of equipment recognize the new 837 area code as a valid area code and continue to store or program telephone numbers as 10-digit numbers. Some examples are: stored telephone numbers in contact lists in cordless or wireless phones, PBXs, fax machines, Internet dial-up numbers, speed dialers, call forwarding settings, voicemail services, medical alert devices, safety alarm security systems and gates, ankle monitors and/or other similar equipment.

πŸ“±What remains the same?
πŸ”· Telephone numbers, including the current area code.
πŸ”· The price of a call, coverage area, or other rates and services will not change due to the overlay.
πŸ”· What is a local call now will remain a local call.
πŸ”· Customers will continue to dial 1+10 digits for local calls within and between the overlay area codes, and 1+10 digits for long distance calls.
πŸ”· Customers can still dial just three digits to reach 911 and 988, as well as 211, 311, 411, 511, 611, 711 or 811 if those are currently available in their community.

If you have any questions regarding information provided here, please contact your local service provider. You may also visit the California Public Utilities Commission website at www.cpuc.ca.gov/530areacode.

This might be our favorite CFA event. Every year, the Colusa Fire Department staff and volunteers will go down every street in Colusa with Santa and his sleigh. Santa will personally hand a candy cane to every child waiting by the street. This is a perfect way to jump start your Christmas spirit. Me...
