Well, the US election season has wound its way down. We’re exhausted from the many months of campaigning, of rancor, of division and tribalism.

Can we still be friends?

I for one would welcome an election campaign like that in the U.K., in which Parliament is dissolved, elections are called, and a brief six weeks campaign is followed by an election, followed immediately by the seating of the new Parliament and the naming of a new Prime Minister.

Not painless, but quick.

As many of you know, I’m writing my long-promised book that will be part-mémoire, part-recipe and part-how-to-succeed in business while really, really trying. If any among you would rather not be mentioned, for any reason, I will respect your wishes.

This isn’t a tell-all, but rather a fond look back on my life in the restaurant industry. It will be published next year by Forbes Publishing, and I’ve just received feedback from the publisher that a ghostwriter will not be needed. Given the rate of compensation for ghostwriters, this will be a huge money-saver.

To our loyal friends and customers,

Following a series of adverse events and due to the continuing difficult economic environment, we at Dave's Artisanal Cheesecakes have made the difficult decision to suspend operations.

Dave's Artisanal Cheesecakes grew from humble beginnings as a home-based bakery in 2013 to become a supplier of cheesecakes to restaurants, hotels and clubs across the United States.

Along the way, we sold cheesecakes of the highest quality, using the best ingredients available, to individuals across America via our business partners at Amazon, FedEx and UPS through our web store. The very large increases in both our cost of ingredients and rent at our shared kitchen has meant that continuing with the production of cheesecakes is no longer a viable option.

Please know that it has been our genuine pleasure these past nine plus years to have served you, our raving fans, and that we will be at least satisfied in knowing that we were able to make the finest cheesecakes in America all the while.

We have been very pleasantly surprised by the strong flow of orders from both our new and our longtime loyal customers near and far, which prompts us to ask that anyone wishing to order for Valentine’s Day please order early.

Some flavor varieties will sell out, so reserve your favorites today. We’ve also seen holiday-level ordering volume from our Amazon customers, and we highly recommend placing an order for shipping via FedEx or UPS no later than Wednesday in order to arrive before the big day.

We will be available for local pickup of your cheesecake orders Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 am to 4 pm. The website order form will prompt you to specify your pickup day and time.

Unlike in previous years, we will be unable to provide local delivery of cheesecakes this weekend, and we thank you in advance for your understanding.
