Mike Johnson told reporters late Wednesday that Rep. Mike Turner (R-Dayton), would no longer lead the committee, which oversees the nation's intelligence agencies and holds tremendous influence over law enforcement and foreign policy. During Trump's first term, the committee became a hotbed of partisanship as its powers were used to assist the then-president.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is removing the GOP chairman of the powerful House Intelligence Committee, who was a vocal supporter of assistance for Ukraine and held other views that put him at odds with President-elect Donald Trump.

Many residents of Middletown, Ohio are bursting with pride at their native son's accomplishments. But others feel lingering embarrassment over JD Vance's unflattering portrayal of the Midwest steel town in his best-selling memoir, “ Hillbilly Elegy ” or trepidation about Donald Trump's second White House term, or both.

Middletown, Ohio leaders eventually came to the kind of compromise that was either maddeningly bureaucratic or elegantly impartial, depending on one's perspective, but also the kind that has become increasingly rare in the bitter politics of the current moment.

Mark Griffin, the city's law director and chief legal counsel, argued that by accepting more than $350 million in taxpayer dollars, the Cleveland Browns are violating state law and contracts with the city.

The city has filed a state law suit against the Browns, invoking the Modell Law. The state law puts up obstacles for teams wishing to leave taxpayer-funded facilities.

Ohioans are getting older. While the state's overall population growth is slow, the percentage of Ohioans above the age of 60 is rising.

Many Ohioans are aging. As a larger percent of Ohio's population crosses into their 60s, experts say the state should prepare with changes to the tax code and policies that support people aging at home.

The cultural identities of American cities often revolve around food, like the Philly cheesesteak, or the Chicago’s Italian beef sandwich. Cleveland is no different.

For decades, people have been chowing down on a sandwich informed by the city's Eastern European and Black culinary history: the Polish Boy.

More than 1 in 10 people in the U.S. get federal food aid, and food insecurity ticked up again in 2023, according to the latest report from the Department of Agriculture.

The first Trump administration tried to scale back who gets food benefits, and allies aim to try again. Food pantries say they're already busier than ever.

A new law taking effect in April gives law enforcement agencies the ability to charge $75 an hour and up to $750 per video for body cam videos requested by the public. News organizations and the ACLU urged Gov. Mike DeWine to use his line-item veto.

We look at the broader implications of "sunshine laws" that make it more difficult to access public records and how this is trending nationally.

The decision came two days after mediators Qatar and the United States announced an agreement had been reached with Israel and Hamas on Wednesday.

MLK Day — which was approved as a federal holiday in 1983 and has been recognized in all 50 states since 2000 — always takes place on the third Monday in January, because it falls near his Jan. 15 birthday. Inauguration Day has been held on Jan. 20th since the passage of the 20th Amendment in 1933.

Trump is only the third president to be sworn in on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Due to the particulars of the calendar and the Constitution, the two events won't overlap again until 2053.

The inauguration, which would typically take place on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol facing the National Mall, will instead be moved inside to the Capitol Rotunda. Monday's events could be the coldest inauguration since 1985, when Ronald Reagan's second inaugural was also moved indoors.

President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that he will move the inauguration ceremony indoors as Washington, DC prepares for record low temperatures. The ceremony will now take place inside the Capitol rotunda.

The executive branch doesn't have a direct role in the amendment process, and Biden is not going to order the archivist to certify and publish the ERA, the White House told reporters on a conference call. A senior administration official said that the archivist's role is "purely ministerial" in nature, meaning that the archivist is required to publish the amendment once it is ratified.

To come into effect, the constitutional amendment would need to be formally published or certified by the national archivist, who has declined to do so in the past. What happens now is unclear.

Right now, the U.S. is the single largest donor to global health in the world, pouring more than $10 billion this past fiscal year into international health efforts. While that number represents less than 1% of the total U.S. spending, millions of people worldwide are directly impacted by it.

When Donald Trump returns to the White House, he's expected to issue a series of orders with far-reaching impact on global health — from abortion services to support for the World Health Organization.

The government can't pick just any drugs in Medicare. There are certain rules laid out in the Inflation Reduction Act that say which drugs are eligible for price cuts. They can't be brand new, for instance, and can't have competition from generic or biosimilar products.

On its last weekday in power, the Biden Administration has chosen the next batch of drugs up for price negotiation in Medicare.

On an app known for dance trends and the ever-so-common cute cat videos found on the internet, Ohio's crop of influencers is very diverse in terms of content creation. Their videos range from educational videos on plants, Ohio-centric sports rants, reviews of small-town Ohio eateries and even lore and local legends of creepy cryptids.

Ohio is home to several TikTok influencers with large follower-bases on the app. After the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a law trying to force a sale of the app, many people will have to consider what to do next.
