This morning, the Alabama Department of Transportation will be using a de-ice brine solution to address icy spots on HWY 51, HWY 169, and HWY 80.

If possible, continue to stay off of the roadways to allow them to work effectively. If it is essential to drive and you spot one of these trucks, please be patient and maintain a safe distance.

Unfortunately the snow has ended, but now we have to deal with some icy conditions. Roadways have become very hazardous. Tomorrow morning's low will be down near 15° and it will take a while to warm up. With tomorrow afternoon's high only getting into the mid 30s, don't expect too much melting, and what does melt, will only freeze again tomorrow night, making travel hazardous again into Thursday morning. Bottom line, stay home if you're able to, but if you have to get out, just make sure you slow down, and give some distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you. Be safe and have a good night!

Roads are getting extremely slick out there as the snow continues to fall and temperatures, especially road temperatures drop. Please slow down if you have to be out, and only tap your breaks to slow down. Best thing to do is stay off the roads! If you get in trouble, it's going to continue to be tougher and tougher for emergency services to get to you as the roads worsen, if they can at all. Please be safe!!!

Much of East Alabama and West Georgia is under either a Winter Storm Advisory or Winter Storm Warning. Locally, in Columbus and Phenix City, we're looking at 1-3 inches. But, keep in mind, regardless of what falls and how much, it will freeze and it will cause travel issues Tuesday Night and Wednesday.
