Storms continue to track southeastward tonight. In Alabama, Auburn, Loachapoka, Notasulga, and Opelika will likely see some high winds shortly, while in Georgia, Hamilton, Manchester, Pine Mountain, and Shiloh are seeing some heavy rain with some lightning and thunder and some gusty winds. Right now, nothing is severe, but these storms are a bit strong.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm WARNING for Western Troup and Northwestern Harris County until 11:15PM EDT! Main hazards are wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail.

We've got showers and storms moving southeastward this evening. A few of the storms have reached severe limits with the main hazards being winds gusts to 60 mph and half dollar-sized hail. You can also see a "gust front" out ahead of the line of storms and this could provide some gusty winds up to 50 mph out ahead of the main storms. We'll continue to keep an eye on things this evening, but the good news is, the tornado threat is very very low.

Even though we have a lull in the rain and storms, there is more rain on the way and there could be some embedded lightning and thunder, with strong wind gusts, associated with the activity moving in this evening. FYI - The outdoor sirens are malfunctioning, there is NO warning right now in Columbus.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado WATCH for East Alabama and much of West Central Georgia until 7PM ET/6PM CT. Main threat will be damaging wind gusts, and small hail, but an isolated tornado can't be completely ruled out. We are also under a Flood WATCH as flooding could also be an issue with 3-4 inches expected locally through tomorrow, with some higher amounts possibly with the stronger storms.

The Chattahoochee Valley is all clear of the severe weather! Still some light to moderate showers for the next hour before the rain moves out and we start to dry out. Some really warm air is going to settling in midweek and last through the first half of the weekend with mid to upper 80s to even low 90s in spots. That's about 15 degrees above average for this time of the year! Then on Sunday, another storm system moves into the area with some afternoon showers and storms. Still a little early to tell if severe weather will be an issue, but early indications are there could be some strong storms. Behind that system, we'll then see below average temperatures move back in.
