Dennis Paul Simpson Sr. was born with music in his heart and soul. From a young age, he knew that music was his calling, his passion, his purpose in life. In 1973, Dennis had his first taste of the stage at the Palace Theater in Gary, Indiana. As he stepped into the spotlight that night, he felt a rush of energy and excitement like never before.
Dennis poured his heart and soul into his performance, captivating the audience with his powerful voice and charismatic stage presence. Little did he know that this show would change the course of his life forever.
After the show, Dennis had the opportunity to meet the legendary James Brown, who was impressed by Dennis's talent and passion for music. James Brown invited Dennis to join him on stage for a special performance, alongside other talented artists like Aromas Lugo, Donald Pugh, Larry (L.L.) Smith, Peggy Jenkins, Foxy Rocky, Nick Rollins, Alaka Robinson, "Tommy Boi," and many more.
From that moment on, Dennis's music career took off. He became known for his skills as a writer, composer, producer, and studio musician, collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry. But despite his success, Dennis never forgot his roots.
As a disabled veteran of the US Navy, Dennis knew the importance of hard work and dedication. He worked in construction to make ends meet and help others in need. He shared his knowledge and experience with young musicians, teaching them about the hustle and grind of the music industry.
Dennis's love for music extended beyond the stage. He recorded countless aspiring artists for free, giving them a platform to share their talent with the world. He also embraced the ancient teachings of his ancestors, passing down the tribe's wisdom to those willing to learn.
In 2021, tragedy struck when Dennis suffered a heart attack and underwent bypass surgery on October 21st. Despite facing this health challenge, Dennis remained resilient and focused on sharing his knowledge with others. He began building a website, dmansmoothy.com, where he offered free lessons on using the internet to generate wealth.
Through his website, Dennis continued to inspire and educate people from all walks of life, empowering them to pursue their dreams and create a better future for themselves.
