H.E. Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba participated in the 1321st Ministerial Meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC) held in Addis Ababa, convened to address the worsening security and humanitarian situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This high-level session brought together ministers and senior representatives from across the continent to reaffirm Africa’s collective commitment to peace, stability, and respect for sovereignty. 

In his address, Minister Kabba:

Strongly condemned the ongoing violence perpetrated by armed groups, including the M23, ADF, and other militias, and underscored the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities. 

Reiterated Sierra Leone’s firm support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and unity of the DRC, urging all parties to respect African norms and international law. 

Emphasised that there is no military solution to the conflict, calling instead for the full implementation of existing peace agreements, including the Doha Framework and the Washington DC Accord, and for sustained diplomatic engagement to achieve lasting peace. 

Highlighted the critical importance of ending illicit exploitation of natural resources that fuel insecurity, exacerbate humanitarian suffering, and undermine regional stability. 

The Minister’s remarks resonated with the Council’s broader communiqué, which underscored the necessity of political dialogue, humanitarian access, and coordinated African-led efforts toward sustainable peace. 

Representing Sierra Leone with dignity and statesmanship, H.E. Kabba reaffirmed his country’s solidarity with the people and Government of the DRC, and Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment to support African led peace initiatives that prioritize dialogue, multilateral cooperation, and regional stability.
