I am still reeling from the AALA alumni retreat. It is such a sacred space that is created when all of us are together. I’m honored to be amongst the 400. The AALA alumni (and new fellows) are some of the most brilliant, talented, kind, funny, and dynamic leaders I know. My heart and mind are full. There is plenty to think about and DO.

2024 taught me that revolution happens in community - not just in grand gestures, but in the daily work of showing up, holding space, and building bridges between healing, art, advocacy, love, and organizational change.

Y’all, this year brought some of my biggest transitions yet. I left corporate DEI leadership and deepened my work as a culture strategist, healing practitioner, and artist. I navigated the loss of my father and mentor in diversity management consulting. And through it all, our community kept showing up, reminding me that we got us, and we keep us safe. 🫂

Some moments that shaped our collective journey:
• Leading Leaders of Impact campaign
• Becoming a 2025 Greater Columbus Arts Council Navigator.
• Serving as Board President of .
• Serving on the Board in a record breaking year, opening Zora’s House 2.0.
• Starting the arduous process of updating and building out my personal consulting brand (big things coming for Q2 of 2025. And working with several clients who jumped at the chance to work with me once I said I was on the professional consulting market (more on these amazing folks later!).
• Serving as a member of the Volunteer Leadership Team.

This year taught me that rest isn’t just about recovery – it’s about revolution. Through and K Hewitt Consulting, we’re reimagining how organizations can honor human dignity, communal connection, and impactful productivity. 😌🤓

Looking ahead: 2025 will be about deeper integration of healing, joy, art, advocacy, and organizational change. Q1 will be time to put my head down, professionally develop, and grow my business. 🧰🛠️

To everyone choosing courage over comfort, inclusion over division, community over competition: THANK YOU for being part of this journey. Community happens in relationship, one connection at a time. ✨

October 29th was World Stroke Day, and there is so much we can do to make a difference and become more preventative and aware of the signs of a stroke in real time.

ABOUT THE FORUM: An erosion of LGBTQ+ rights could be the latest casualty of America's deepening political and cultural polarization. With a laundry list of anti-LGBTQ+ bills piling up in the Ohio statehouse and some employers dropping corporate DEI initiatives, are efforts to safeguard and grow LGBTQ+ rights losing ground in Ohio? Polling research announced earlier this year by nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute also disturbingly showed US public support for LGBTQ+ protections falling for first time since 2015, illustrating the dangers of taking newly won freedoms for granted. With a panel of experts, we take stock of the state and trajectory of LGBTQ+ rights in Ohio and look at what the post-election environment may hold in store for LGBTQ+ Ohioans and their families.
