I’m one of those strange people that likes the artificial banana flavor so any time I find a cocktail that calls for banana liqueur, I’m game.

This reshake was more out of necessity/circumstance than wanting to make a change to the OP. I was out of ginger liqueur and didn’t realize till midway through the build. So if you find yourself in a similar situation, here’s what I did

1.5 oz reposado tequila ( )5 oz coffee liqueur25 oz banana liqueur 25 oz ginger syrup *
5 -10 drops fire tincture ( )*
5 drops 20% saline solution *

* reshake modifications

Shantell was right this thing is an absolute banger and you should go make it.

Worked on a little bit of a project cocktail this weekend after stumbling across this on Punch.

This is the Hana Gin Cocktail, crafted by Manny Hernandez of Stokes Adobe in California. Described as a floral cocktail built on Japanese influences and flavors like yuzu, sake, and cherry blossom tea. This cocktail was well worth the wait.

While mine didn’t clarify as pretty as the Punch Article’s, it’s still an incredible sip. If you want to try it, here’s all the details👇👇

2 1/4 ounces gin, preferably Roku
3/4 ounce Niwa homemade elixir (see Editor’s Note)
3 dashes orange bitters
Garnish: lemon peel (expressed and discarded), edible flower

DIRECTIONS
Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir to combine.
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Express lemon oil over the drink, then discard.
Garnish with an edible flower.

EDITOR’S NOTE
Niwa Homemade Elixir
2 ounces Chareau aloe liqueur
1 ounce cherry blossom tea syrup (see below)
3/4 ounce yuzu juice
3/4 ounce sake
2 ounces coconut milk

In a mixing glass, combine the Chareau, blossom syrup, yuzu juice and sake, then mix.
Pour the coconut milk into another mixing glass.
Slowly pour the cocktail mix over the milk.
Pass through a cheesecloth or coffee filter to strain.

Cherry Blossom Tea Syrup
350 grams white sugar
350 milliliters (about 12 ounces) hot water
3 bags cherry blossom tea, preferably Harney & Sons

Stir the sugar into the hot water until it dissolves.
Add tea bags and let sit for 4 hours.
Strain the mixture using a fine strainer.
Bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to a month.

I know I’m a day late but I was waiting on the new camera to show up before shooting this week’s local spotlight. And I gotta say, the new toy did not disappoint!

This week I’m shouting out the crew over at distillery. This is my go to for finding fun and fruity twists on spirits. While I am a huge fan of their apple and cherry whiskies, the headliner for me is their Limon Cello. 🍋😍

The recipe is a family heirloom passed down and thankfully shared with the rest of us! While the standard offering is great, if you are lucky enough to get your hands on the high proof edition it is 🪽divine 🪽!

This is a adaptation of a side car found on the menus at Italian restaurant and bar chain.

-1 oz brandy
-3/4 oz orange liqueur
-3/4 oz Limon Cello
-1/2 oz lemon juice

Shake with ice

It’s Wednesday so it’s time for another local spotlight- this week it’s all about Echo Spirits Distilling!

is from right here in Columbus, Ohio. These guys are all about crafting top-notch spirits with a real sense of community. This crew not only puts out killer whiskey, but also award winning Rum (Queens Share), and Genever - a malt based primordial cousin to gin.

I recently picked up a bottle of their Engineer Series Whiskey - Porch Cigar Whiskey Blend. This bottle is everything I want in a whiskey when the temps start to drop and Autumn rolls in. Sweetness, a little oak and spice make this an excellent serve near, or in a cocktail like the one posted here.

Check back later this week for the recipe - bourbon, chocolate, and peach 😉

I love October - fall is the season with my favorite things. Football season, Halloween and Thanksgiving, hoodie and shorts season (if you’re in the Midwest you know) and things start to slow down and quiet down.

This was last years candy cocktail from

I was lucky enough to get to try the “Whiskey Werther” - a butterscotch and maple twist matched with their amazing bourbon!

1.75 oz bourbon75 oz butterscotch schnapps25 - .5 oz whiskey barrel aged maple syrup
2 dash angostura bitters

This cocktail is silky smooth with sweetness that warps from the butterscotch to vanilla to maple and back again as you enjoy it.
