*Rant/Explination*
I've seen some people responding to posts about school closings, stating that this storm will miss us, or snow wont be falling at 1am, so why call off the whole day.
The fact of the matter is, at press time, we are still expecting the storm on its current trajectory and path, to affect all of SE MI and the thumb.
The snow will start around early afternoon and transition to sleet with mostly freezing rain around late afternoon/evening, lasting through at least 12 AM.
With that being known, around the time schools let out roads could be frozen by then, creating a dangerous situation as ice accumulations could reach three tenths of an inch with locally higher amounts.

Another batch of sleet and freezing rain will move southeast into our area within the next 30 minutes or so. This round appears to be a bit heavier than the past few.
02/16/2023
Sleet and Freezing rain is currently falling in areas along and north of I-69. I am willing to say snow isn't falling unless you are along and north of M-46.
02/16/2023
Windy conditions return Thursday night, with gusts near 40 mph. Take advantage of Saturday and Sunday as the cooler air once again returns for the start of our week.

Wednesday and Wednesday night, a stronger storm system is expected to swing through the area and bring snow. The timeline is as follows.
4am-6:30am: As the storm swings into the area, a batch of rain, or at least a freezing mix will impact us first before the snow starts.
6:30am: The snow now begins to impact our southern counties, mainly the I-69 corridor.
7am-9am: The snow advances northward and impacts areas north of the I-69 corridor to the thumb.
9am-10am: Heavier snow will move in and start accumulating, although around or after 10am seems more likely.
10am-7pm: The heavier snow will last from around 10am to 4pm, although I cannot rule out a few spots of heavier snow hanging on until around the 7pm hour.
7pm-9pm: The snow finally starts to taper off and leave the area, from west to east.
9pm-10pm: Around 10pm the snow finally looks to have completely exited the area, however, snow showers may linger overnight through the early morning hours.
01/24/2023
Good Afternoon Mid-Michigan. We warmed up nicely today despite the snow on the ground, which in many areas, has greatly diminished. We topped out around 37 to 39 in many locations by mid-afternoon.
Our attention now shifts to snow associated with a stronger system impacting the area Wednesday and Wednesday night.
01/22/2023
And looking at the current temperatures... yeah, we are cold. This is contributing to the snow being able to stick to more than just grassy surfaces.
01/22/2023
Currently, the snow is preparing to exit our area over the next few hours.
Futurecast shows the bulk of the snow exiting our area somewhere between 4 and 5 pm, with lingering snow showers until about midnight. Those snow showers may impact the Ohio border and lakeshore counties a bit more than the rest of us.
Current snowfall totals are coming in along I-94, with the general reports being 2 to 3 inches, with a lone report of 0.9 inches in Howell.
12/25/2022
The band of lake effect snow that we have seen since about 1 pm today is STILL hanging around, however it has drifted somewhat southward.
12/25/2022
While we are dealing with this cold arctic air, we only have to wait 5 days before we start seeing 40s then 50s!
12/24/2022
Live look over Flint, where they are currently being affected by that area of snow.
12/24/2022
A band of snow is sitting, effectively stalled out over parts of Shiawassee, Genesee, Livingston, Oakland, and Lapeer counties since at least 1pm.
No significant accumulations are expected, however, the area of snow could enhance the already gusty winds.
12/24/2022
City of Lapeer and Deerfield areas are currently without power. In total, the DTE Service Area has about 6,434 without power at the moment.
12/23/2022
The wind chills are even worse, -27 wind chill in Reading.
12/23/2022
Absolutely frigid temps outside.
12/23/2022
Current wind gusts. Most are in the 40-45 mph range.

In Feb. of 2018, I had been part of the Lapeer Discussion Group for a bit, and I saw how helpful it was to see the members of the community talk about events and such. I then decided, Mid-Michigan needs a page for its residents to learn, and stay informed about weather. That’s when Mid-Michigan Weather Discussion was born.
It was originally born shortly around one of the floods we had locally, as one of the profile pictures is the Barnes Lk Rd bridge past Fostoria Rd with a ROAD CLOSED sign.
Since the pages launch, the pages name may have changed, but my goal has been the same. Keep up with the weather, post information about the weather, and hopefully be the reason someone is still here smiling after a dangerous severe weather event.
We have grown to have two main photographers to capture the beautiful and at times severe weather, and one main meteorologist to give you the information you need.
Since 2018 this page has served the Mid-Michigan area, and i hope it can serve you a hundred more.
