We will definitely keep an eye on this system. Too early to determine impacts at this time.
Notes on this tropical system…
We will likely get an official track later today as the tropical low in the Caribbean gets better organized. Once that is issued, I’ll post an update.
Models are in good agreement that it becomes a tropical storm, and perhaps a hurricane. As the cyclone moves into the central and northern Gulf, weakening is likely as wind shear and dry air gets involved. Plus, water temperatures are a bit cooler across the northern Gulf.
It could serve as more of a beneficial rain where it comes in, however, a further east track would remove rain from our area. I don’t expect a powerful hurricane at landfall.
That being said, we’ll need to keep an eye on trends. If this looks more like a serious threat, I will update you.
