I came to Columbia from Kansas City a long time ago to attend the university (sometimes). One of the great things about Columbia is that it's always been a music mecca. One of the things I can't understand is that we have living here one of the best guitarist around and he doesn't have a huge following. He sounds a little like Hendrix and a little like Stevie Ray and has his own unique style. He learned to play in the south and he has a little gospel influence and he writes his own music. Maybe because he does originals it's harder to find a following. C Rock City , Banastre Tarleton Band ( Banastre does some originals) and the Norm Reubling Band are great cover bands and when you have an alcoholic beverage people like to hear songs they know. So it takes the listener a little more concentration to appreciate songs that they haven't heard before. But Joe Lewis is truly the "Electric Guitar Slinger". Don't miss him! My wife, Dr. Cynthia Baker, has taken a job in Denver and we drove up from Delray Beach, Florida this weekend. We are going to miss beautiful Delray Beach but the opportunity to become the clinical director of The Raleigh House, a growing behavioral health company, was too great to pass up. I am staying in Columbia for about a month doing a few videos and websites.
