Greetings, writers of the internets: the 34th Annual Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize is now open for entries. Send us your hilarious, heartbreaking, moving, mind-altering epiphanies and meditations in the form of poems, short stories, or essays (or all three) for a chance to win $5000, promotion, and publication in the Spring 2025 issue of The Missouri Review. We can't wait to encounter your brilliance! Learn more here: https://missourireview.com/contests/jeffrey-e-smith-editors-prize/
We asked interns and staff what they would do with the cash prize for the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize contest… if they had to spend it frivolously in a day. How would you (frivolously) spend $5k? Let’s hear it!
Meet the Fall 2023 interns at TMR
Just over a week to enter your best stories, poems, and/or essays for the 2023 Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Prize!
The deadline for the 2023 Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize has been extended to Monday, October 16th (midnight PST). That means you still have two weeks to get the particulars and character shades into that story just the way you want, to layer in the last second insights into that essay, two weeks for your poems to reveal their most recent, sparkling selves.
We are thrilled to read your work and deeply honored that you would entrust it to us. If it is with us, or if it is to come, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Today until 10 p.m. CST, TMR is offering a 40% discount on entering the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize. Submit poems, stories, and/or essays at $15 per entry, with the same perks + the promise to consider each entry for publication.
