"ACORN grew out of this idea I couldn’t shake," David Axe told Michael Haberfelner. "That idea, weirdly enough, is a man-eating tree. From that seed, the movie grew up and through my own experiences making tiny movies." ACORN drops from BayView Entertainment in January.
Our weirdo movie-within-a-movie ACORN won the jury prize at South Carolina Underground Film Festival on Sunday! What an honor. ACORN drops in January from BayView Entertainment.
Don't watch Shawn C Phillips' movie Woods Witch for the script. Watch it for the spookiness. The script gets the heroes "out to investigate everything, and serves to keep the cameras rolling when they get in trouble," Don Anelli wrote. https://srscinemastore.com/products/woods-witch-blu-ray
Sally Kirkland was a member of Andy Warhol's The Factory and a player in New York City's 1960s avant-garde scene. She was in JFK and BRUCE ALMIGHTY. She's a legend, and she graced us for a scene in Woods Witch, Shawn C Phillips' spooky new horror comedy. Get the movie: https://srscinemastore.com/products/woods-witch-blu-ray
One of the standout performances in Shawn C Phillips' new movie WOODS WITCH is from James Duval. Yes, THAT James Duval: the kid in INDEPENDENCE DAY and also Frank the Rabbit in DONNIE DARKO.
We were lucky to get James. "You’re gonna be mind-blown by this, but in the '90s I did not want to do horror," he said last year.
"And I love horror! I love it. But we were kind of talking about being pigeonholed. And to some degree after a while. I was like, I don’t want to be thought of as this or that."
"So what kind of actor is Jim? I hadn’t decided that yet. Maybe I still haven’t ... "

Shawn C Phillips' new movie Woods Witch features one of Tom Sizemore's last roles before his tragic passing in March. "I'll never forget when he asked me to hold his wallet for him while they were filming the prison scene," castmate Kenneth Ramone recalls. "It had a chain around it and everything. He joked, 'Don't run off with it, though! I got three grand in there!'" Rest in peace, Tom.

(re)Search my Trash reviews Woods Witch, Shawn C Phillips' new horror movie.
"Lots of fun, basically because on one hand it doesn't take itself at all seriously; on the other because it's actually a pretty clever satire on the vlogging scene as such. And the film works thanks to a colorful cast of characters embodied by an able cast, a well built-up plot and a very relaxed, fun approach to the horror genre, all making this a pretty entertaining ride."
