At the laying of the first cornerstone of the Carnegie Hall 1890, Andrew Carnegie said, “All good causes may here find a platform”. This resounding statement found its veracity in 1961 when the Southern Leadership Conference, under the distinguished leadership of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., orchestrated a benefit concert. This event demonstrated the ability of music to serve as a catalyst for change in the world.

This Saturday at the West Wing of Pikes Peak Library District - Library 21c KCME host Keith Simon will interview Peggy Shivers, an accomplished opera singer, pianist, and the spouse of Clarence, a Tuskegee Airman turned artist.

Together, Peggy and Clarence founded the Shivers Fund and the African-American Historical Collection, housed within the Pikes Peak Library District. Enjoy cookies and tea while listening to Peggy narrate her life story in her own words.
